Initially production of Fast & Furious 7 had been delayed, following the tragic death of Paul Walker. Yesterday, Universal Studios released an official statement on what will be happening with the film.
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."
It appears that Walker’s scenes were not as completed as many had hoped. With filming nearly completed in Atlanta, there were still footage to obtain in the Middle East. It looks as if Universal may have either some heavy re-writes or perhaps even start over. That have not said that they are abandoning the franchise. It just doesn’t seem likely that the seventh film will arrive in time for its July 2014 release date.
