Producer Neal Moritz has climbed onboard the big screen version of 21 JUMP STREET set up at Paramount Pictures. Based on the Fox TV series that launched with the cable channel in 1987, the youth-centric crime drama also jumpstarted the career of Johnny Depp. Peter DeLuise, Holly Robinson and Dustin Nguyen rounded out the cast of babyfaced cops that go undercover at high schools to weed out trouble.
Moritz's Original Film company will produce the movie.
Originally announced two years ago with the show's creators, Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh, to write the film, the new direction that Moritz and his team are taking will be to hire new scribes to pen a script. Cannell remains a producer on the project with Douglas Rosin while Original's Tania Landau will executive produce.
