FEARnet Rolls Out Their Halloween Programming

By: Tim Janson
Date: Thursday, October 11, 2007

FEARnet, the world’s premiere horror and thriller website and video on demand service, will celebrate Halloween all October long as it scares up a daily dose of chilling programming every day of the month. The ultimate Halloween destination, FEARnet will bring the shock factor, bloodfest and body count to new heights as it unleashes online and on demand an array of new series, movies and special events.
Highlighting the frightening festivities will be:
·         The all new daily series Route 666: America’s Scariest Home Haunts, profiling some of the country’s scariest, most innovative haunted houses and the people behind the madness.
·         The all new daily series Tricks Of The Trade: Halloween How-To featuring tips on everything from costumes and decorating to telling ghost stories.
·         FEARnet’s first original movie event, the chilling suspense thriller Catacombs produced by Twisted Pictures -- the production house behind the box office smash horror franchise Saw.
·         Live feeds from top haunted house attractions across the country to see real people get the wits scared out of them (exclusively on FEARnet.com)
·         The addition of more than 15 horror favorites including Amityville Horror, Poltergeist 2 & 3, Night of the Living Dead, Mary Reilly, Stigmata, and Ring Around the Rosie.
“For Horror fans, Halloween is our Super Bowl. With that in mind we wanted to make sure FEARnet went above and beyond in giving thrill lovers a scarefest like no other. From original programming and movies, to events and promotions, we are pulling out all the stops,” said Diane Robina, President, FEARnet.
To that end, FEARnet has launched a search to find and honor America’s most spirited Halloween home decorators -- and reward the best by paying off their mortgage for an entire year! Beginning October 1, the “FEARnet’s Scariest Haunted House Search” invites everyone to upload a short video of their Halloween decorated home to a FEARnet micro site located at http://bix.yahoo.com/fearnet. Any visitor can then view all the entrants and cast a vote for their favorite as well as post comments. The owner of the house that receives the highest ratings score will be awarded the grand prize of having FEARnet pay their mortgage for a year (up to $50 thousand). The web site will carry all relevant details and rules.
PROGRAMMING OVERVIEWS
Route 666: America’s Scariest Home Haunts
Halloween. For some it means trick or treating around the neighborhood. But for those who like their thrills more hard-core, it’s time to get scared out of your wits at one of the amateur haunted houses that spring up across the country each year. Severed limbs, squirting blood, psychos wielding chainsaws, the death howls of disemboweled “victims” -- this definitely is not your grandmother’s haunted house. Hosted by Halloween (2007) star Danielle Harris, this original short form series will profile some of the country’s scariest, most innovative haunted houses and meet the people behind the madness. Viewers will learn the inspiration behind their ideas and more importantly uncover some of the secrets of each house’s “signature” scares.
Beginning October 1, a new episode will debut each day on FEARnet.com. Route 666: America’s Scariest Home Haunts will spotlight 25 houses. In addition, 5 themed episode compilations have been produced, and the series will conclude with a “Best of Episode” to air on Halloween. These will air on both FEARnet’s VOD network and on FEARnet.com.
Tricks Of The Trade: Halloween How-To
For Horror seekers looking to rev up the fun during the Halloween season, FEARnet has you covered with its short form series, Tricks Of The Trade: Halloween How-To. Each 1-2 minute episode will provide viewers with insightful, simple to execute tips on everything from costumes and decorating, to party foods and make-up. Set in a pristine lab with a twist and a straight-laced but somewhat off kilter host, Tricks Of The Trade: Halloween How-To will help people:

·         transform into ghastly zombies, mummies, and modern-day vampires.
·         add to their home decorating shock factor with tips on turning a skeleton into a rotting corpse, and building electric chairs.
·         prepare downright scary menus including meat and maggots, potato brains and skull and chocolate spiders.
The tips are created by such top horror entities as renowned special effects house SOTA Effects who created the make-up “how tos.” A new episode will premiere each day of the month, beginning October 1.
Catacombs Original Movie Event
Catacombs marks FEARnet’s first original movie event. Produced by Twisted Pictures’ Gregg Hoffman, Oren Koules and Mark Burg, the production house behind the box office smash horror franchise Saw, Catacombs is a chilling suspense thriller about a young woman on a trip to the world’s most romantic city who soon finds herself lost deep beneath the streets of Paris. As she gets entangled in the 200-mile labyrinth, she discovers she is being hunted in a deadly game. The movie features a hot young cast including music star Alecia Moore AKA “Pink” and Shannyn Sossoman. It was directed and written by Tomm Coker and David Elliot. Peter Block, Jason Constantine and Peter Schlessel executive produced. Catacombs will premiere on FEARnet’s digital cable video on demand channel on October 1 and its highly-trafficked FEARnet.com online destination on Halloween .
Live Feeds From Haunted House Attractions
Exclusive to FEARnet.com will be an innovative, voyeuristic Halloween experience. FEARnet has partnered with some of the hottest professional Haunted House attractions throughout the country and will place a camera in a scary corner in each. Visitors to FEARnet.com will be able to look in live to each attraction and watch actual visitors get a good scare. Participating attractions include Philadelphia’s “Bates Motel,” Las Vegas’ “Asylum,” St Louis’ “The Darkness” and Portland’s “Scream At The Beach.”
