Here's some Twilight news so everyone can bail out and leave the feedback to Starlight Guard. Or not, if you will admit to being a fan and giving Guard some company. Summit Entertainment has signed 14-year old thespian Jodelle Ferland (Silent Hill) to appear in their third addition of the Twilight franchise, joining The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

The young actress will appear as a vampire who has just been turned. Ferland was most recently seen in the CBS telepic "Pictures of Hollis Woods." She can be seen next in the thriller Case 39 with Renee Zellweger.

Jodelle joins her fellow confirmed stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Xavier Samuel and Bryce Dallas Howard. With production set to roll in September, director David Slade is helming from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg.

Plot Concept: In "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will hit theaters June 30, 2010.

"Knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf."

Ah, so Twilight is actually the sequel to Underworld. Who knew...

oh boy, Twilight news -- thank you Jarrod! you're so good to me :)

now let the bitching and moaning of many insecure five year old boys begin

(I may have to print this article out, that and maelstrom's comments in the previous article about Eclipse)

Starlight... you would have to be an insecure five year old to enjoy twilight...  Want to read a gooood vampire bok, read The Strain (please let this become a movie)

madmanic999 8/5/2009 5:36:31 AM

Oh and by the way... I don't hate on twilight because of the romance and all that... I hate on twilight because I shelled out the dough to see a movie with sparkly emo vampires, with poor dialogue, bad plot and worse acting...  I know this is geared toward teens, but Harry Potter owns this film.  At least half of those were entertaining.  Vampires need to be frightening... Edward couldn't scare my two year old.

it always comes down to "they're not killing people! vampires are supposed to be killing people!"

I've seen emo....things....I wouldn't call Twilight that...

and Edward isn't meant to scare children, now is he?

my nephew liked it (no, I didn't make him watch or read it)

a friend of mine liked the movie...and he served as a peace keeping force in Bosnia some years ago, I believe

and everyone who doesn't get it likes to bring up Underworld, Buffy, etc...but no one really complains that Angel loves him some Buffy but can't get any...that Spike loves him some Buffy and did get some...that Spike and Angel were essentially kept from attacking good guys...they won't feed on people...they've always got a coffee cup filled with the sticky red stuff...

and yet, there's the whining and complaining...which is likely kept at bay because Angel and Spike are still killing things

my main complaint about vampires and their relationships is one thing: they can't have sex! you gotta have a pulse to get it hard! you gotta get it hard to get some! and if you can't get some, you can't have kids (Connor, anyone?)...not that the body would still be producing the necessary...uh...stuff to get girls knocked up

and the movie adaptation just wasn't as good as the book....let's be brutally honest in that...I won't shy away from its faults...and yes Meyer quickly ran out of ways to describe beautiful boy Edward...and kept repeating them...but thankfully those issues do not crop up in the second book

I never was in it just because it had vampires. I also never said to myself ooh, teen romance, let's check THAT out...

I looked into it simply out of curiosity...saw the movie first...(mostly to make sure it wasn't overly sappy) and decided it was worth a read...got the book, thought it was decent for what it was...and became hooked...simple as that

story comes first, people...which is why this movie season sucks.....story came third

Starlight, my main problem with Twilight isn't the lack of killing and all.  Look at (like you mentioned) Angel and Spike as well as Bill Compton on True Blood, etc.

The myths of vampires always vary from story to story.  Some are allgeric to garlic, some aren't.  Some have to have a wooden stake driven through their heart to kill them and some can be killed with swords.  Some can't be seen in mirrors or photos and some can.  Some are allergic to silver and other aren't.  BUT, one of the common threads in "almost" all vampire myths is that sunlight kills!  Maybe I've missed some other sources, but it seems to me that Twilight is the only series (that I know of) where sunlight doesn't immediately kill or even slowly kill vampires.

I haven't seen or read Twilight, but from everything I've read about the series and heard from people who have seen the film and read the books, the vamps seem to be bothered very little by the sun.  So if they can't be killed by sunlight and they don't kill people, what the heck makes them vampires?  Can't they just be zombies or simply the undead?

In the BBC series Being Human, vampires seem to be able to withstand daylight... & in Blade Decon Frost was able to withstand it with SPF 2000 or something (that was a great scene btw).

That said, I agree with redhairs99.  I don't think vamps should be able to go out in the sun unless it's with major pain, huge amounts of sunblock, or some sort of protective suit.

I will only read the books, the films look gay and stupid but as an issue vampires, true vampires are scary.

Twilight has dumbed down the vampire lore and made it enjoyable for teens, but that's not why the girls like it so much. It's Edward, they just want to look at him and the fact of Bella.

Please, vampires don't get into romance, they prey on the living, or tell you want you want to hear. they find a human, they obssesse over their victim until they ... well feed.

There is another film which is by Stephen King, it's about vampires.  Alice Kring is in it, it explaned that some vampires came from cats, maybe just maybe that Edward and his gang are distant relatives.

hanso 8/5/2009 7:46:34 AM

What are you talking about vampires don't get into romance?  Have you not seen True Blood?  Or how about Coppola's Dracula?

hanso 8/5/2009 7:50:50 AM

And Twilight is shit, not because it's romance based but because all they do is stare at each other, I'm sorry,I mean they perform "intense visual studies of each other" across the cafeteria, parking lot or wherever the hell they are.

It sucks because for some strange reason the Twilight immortal vampires go to high school.  They lived hundreds of years but can't find anything better to do than go to high school during daylight mind you, oh excuse me, when it's cloudy.

Edward is a stalker.
