Fiennes in talks for American Horror Story

Will Joseph join the cast?

The final major piece of casting for the second season of FX’s thriller American Horror Story is falling into place: EW revealed that Shakespeare in Love star Joseph Fiennes is in negotiations to appear as a regular on AHS season 2. The actor would play the head of the institution for the criminally insane where star Jessica Lange works, and will also be the object of her attraction; the pair have a May/December romance. Not much else is known about his character but we’re told he’s “tortured” — not surprising given the dark world of AHS.

Fiennes joins an all-star cast for AHS‘ second season, which already includes Lange, James Cromwell, Chloe Sevigny, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Spoiler if you haven't watched the first season:

Does this mean that we won't be seeing any more of the family from season one now that they are spirits?

Ok, yeah, just read about season 2. It looks like they're starting a whole new story. Could be interesting, although, I'll miss some of the actors from season 1.

Can't wait for season 2!  Yeah, swisshammer, I think one of the main points of the series is that it will feature a different horror story each season.  Before this format was even revealed I kinda figure that's the way it would be done.  Just didn't seem like they could make an entire series with that one house and one family and one storyline, though it sounds like with Jessica Lange's character returning there's gonna be kind of a prequel or a parallell storyline.  Maybe they coulda stretched it out into two seasons, but there's no way the series could've maintained its intesity and be as compelling.  A while back I said its probably gonna be like Tales from the Crypt, but make each story into an entire season.  I love the concept and I'm excited to see what comes next.

The show just features some of the same actors - not the same characters or anything else involved. But then again that could be the twist.  The think they are going for - as far as I understand is an anthology series except they are doing it by seasons and not by episode.
