FIGHT CLUB's Fincher to direct MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3?

How cool would this be? Word around Hollywood is that while Tom Cruise is preparing to star in THE LAST SAMURAI, he's considering hiring FIGHT CLUB and PANIC ROOM director David Fincher to direct MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3.
While not much is being said on the record, VARIETY's Michael Fleming reports Cruise and his producing partner Paula Wagner are considering Fincher for the film, which is rapidly heating up on Cruise's to-do list.
