Joss Whedon has found the lead for his new science fiction series, FIREFLY. Nathan Fillion, probably not known to you for his work in TWO GUYS AND A GIRL, has been hired to play Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Whedon's new show, set for a 13 episode run on FOX next season.
"He's a very dark-driven guy," Whedon told the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER about Fillion's character. Captain Reynolds commands a transport called the Serenity, in a galactic organization called the Union of Planets, and lives a hand-to-mouth life taking any mission which will feed his crew.
What's more, according to the REPORTER, Captain Reynolds will be akin to defeated United States Confederates in the old west, making a living after being defeated in a horrific war.
