[Film] Music by Gabriel Yared – a DVD Documentary

Awarded an Oscar for his score on The English Patient, Gabriel Yared has composed music for feature films, such as The Talented Mr Ripley, Sylvia, Betty Blue, City of Angels, and the notoriously rejected original score for Troy, as well as documentaries, ballets and cartoons in his eventful career. He is now the subject of an artistic documentary created by filmmaker Rani Khanna, Music by Gabriel Yared, slated for release by the end of April. 
 
This intimate film explores the inspiration behind the versatile composer’s passion for music and his quest to learn more about his art. Offering many insights about the man and the artist, we see the different facets of his work as a tireless composer.  
 
Filmmaker Rani Khanna was given exclusive access into the delicate process of the creative and collaborative relationship between Yared and Anthony Minghella on the score of Cold Mountain, which went on to receive an Oscar nomination. Extracts from their finest collaborations are included as well as scenes of Yared conducting a number of his compositions. 

The film is in French with English subtitles.
