Word has it that the long rumored, and often denied, on screen teaming of Jackie Chan and Jet Li has finally taken the first crucial step. According to Variety columnist Michael Fleming, Revolution Studios has made a deal with the two stars to team in a film that will start production in fall 2002.
As yet, the film has no formal title, but as revealed to CINESCAPE by scribe Robert Mark Kamen, will feature a script by the writer.
Chan and Li will also act as executive producers on the film to come, with Steve Chasman and Brian Gersh tapped to produce.
Currently, Chan has a number of projects on his plate, including the DreamWorks action-comedy THE TUXEDO, the supernatural action film HIGHBINDERS and the SHANGHAI NOON sequel, SHANGHAI KNIGHTS. Meanwhile, Li is currently at work on HERO, a Chinese language epic period piece with his untitled "Monk in New York" project next. The latter project also has a script by Kamen.
