Just a few weeks after showing off their new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony Pictures has unleashed the first clip online courtesy of their viral website MarkOfTheSpider-Man.com. Check it out below and sound off with your thoughts.

The next Spidey adventure stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary,Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Campbell Scott and Irrfan Khan. Director Marc Webb led the production, based on a screenplay by Steve Kloves and James Vanderbilt.

Plot Concept: "The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into 3D/2D/IMAX theaters on July 3, 2012.

Meh.

All I could think while watching that was that I was wishing that doorman was Bruce Campbell...would've been a lot funnier.

Is that suppose to be some sort of nod at Spidey 2 and Raimi, if so I'm cool with it.

spiderhero 2/20/2012 7:53:16 AM

I'm going to see it in theaters of course, but I'm still not excited. Maybe I should have done the same thing I did with the first 3: I didn't watch a single clip or trailer before hand. Though that still wouldn't change the fact that Martin Sheen is Uncle Ben. Oh well. Enough pointless rambling from me on this movie...

I've really got to stop watching clips before the films come out. Trailers are fine but please help me stay away from the clips! That said, the more I see of Garfield as Parker - the more I think he's gonna smash it.

That was not a very good clip for selling the movie. I imagine that is actually a clip that will be used when Garfield starts making the talk show circuit selling the movie. In that context it might come off better in showing him playing the Parker character without the costume.

I'm going to see this in the theaters. The last full trailer gives you a good sense of what they are doing this time around. It will be a gritter, darker take from that than the Raimi version. Let's see if it succeeds.

I agree monkeyfoot.  Looked more like a deleted scene you would get on the blu ray.  Having a hard time generating enthusiasm for this movie.  The Super Bowl trailer helped a lot.  This clip, set me back.  Sony should put something up that generates water cooler buzz or nothing at all.

I thought Parker's parents were spies or something.

 Um, okay.  Deja vu.

InnerSanctum 2/20/2012 2:17:47 PM

After rewatching the trailer...there is even more deja vu.  The first half is just like Rami's film.  And, seriously...they are going with "untold story" to get people excited?  Since this is not being done by Marvel, I'm showing little interest.  I'd much rather Spidey be allowed to play in the same sandbox as The Avengers.
