So The Director Formerly Known as Larry Wachowski is now Lana Wachowski?

Production is officially rolling for director Tom Tykwer as well as co-helming siblings Andy and Lana Wachowski for Cloud Atlas, an adaptation of David Mitchell's popular novel. And we have our first set photos popping up online courtesy of JustJared. The first snapshots show off Hugo Weaving, Halle Berry and Tykwer on the set. You can check out even more pics here. The film will also star Tom Hanks, Ben Whishaw, Susan Sarandon, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Bae Doona, Ben Wishaw and Charly Yoon. All three directors shared duties on the screenplay.
Plot Concept: A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified "dinery server" on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation -- the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other's echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small. In his captivating third novel, David Mitchell erases the boundaries of language, genre and time to offer a meditation on humanity's dangerous will to power, and where it may lead us.
Warner Bros. Pictures has no release date set at the moment.

An amazing book. Can't wait to see how the Wachowskis adapt it to film as they remain IMO great film makers
I had to read the synopsis twice, but it does sound interesting. May pick the book up first.
And yeah, jackwagon. Seems there was a sex change operation at some point.
Okay, so does anyone really know what this is about after reading that plot concept?
Whatever it is about, with the Wachowskis involved I will definitely give it a look see.
seems that unless you read the book (which I have not) the synopsis is un-enlightening. I don't understand what it's supposed to be about and so I too am confused and at this time not interested, not even enough to look uo the book and find out what it's about.
WTF does that plot mean?
I will watch this on a cold lonely night and its in my 100 que of movies on netflix.
LOL I share all your sentiments on the synopsis, but the cast and directors have me interested.
That plot concept left me confused. Think I'll pass.
