First INDY Trailer Hits Theaters Feb 14

We knew from previous reports to expect the first teaser trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sometime in February. Well, we now have an official day of release for that trailer. An inside source has sent word that Paramount's promotional team has set Feb 14, 2008 as the first day when this trailer can appear in theater chains across the country.

While the memo sent out doesn't say specifically which movie to attach the trailer to, it's safe to say it will indeed be the Spiderwick Chronicles as previously expected. That's the only Paramount feature film during the month. Fox's Jumper is another genre film getting a release that weekend as well so if the trailer isn't going to be exclusive for just one film, expect it to be on both films.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will hit theaters May 22, 2008.

Strange... I remember hearing way back that LucasFilm expected a teaser for IJ4 around Thanksgiving 2007 - which would be in line with the 3 Star Wars Prequels. Obviously this didn't happen, anyone know why?

Good point codymr, I was wondering what happened to this trailer last year as well. Maybe with the hype alone they didn't need to advertise in any way until Feb.

Hobbs,
That is the only thing I could think of too, but surely there was "hype" for the Star Wars films. I also considered that ILM may not have completed enough FX... who knows perhaps the people at LucasFilm are using some kind of new math in their promotions division lol.

If you remember the previous SW films, the trailer were based on high tracking and some films were estimated to have received a "Prequel Bump", from being attached. It's all about the money of course!!!

There was probably no Paramount genre flick in the fall that would be appropriate for attaching the Indy trailer. I think they could have at least done a teaser.
I think Lucas has also learned that the less marketing the better. He decreased the scale and budget of marketing with each passing prequel. He knows the fans will show up regardless.
It could have debuted this past weekend, though maybe JJ Abrams also didn't want any thunder to get stolen from his Cloverfield/Star Trek tentpoles, the way he crashed the Transformers party in the summer.
Blah Blah Blah blah blah blah blah

I heard that they might spin off Shia if movie does well. *Shudders*

You heard that rumor here on this site as well. I haven't seen him in anything, but Transformers, but he does have a horny teenager down. So maybe we should wait and see his character in this before we dump on the kid. Though I agree that to do it just to keep the name going would be stupid. And an obvious money grab.

Obvious money grabs are the way of the Hollywood world this way, but thus far other such rumored spinoffs have, thankfully, died. The Jinx Jordan and Wai Lin spinoffs rumored after they appeared in their respective Bond movies didn't come to fruition, neither did the Storm spinoff. At least not yet. I think I remember Chris Rock was supposed to take Danny Glover's place in successive Lethal Weapon movies to boot.

As for the trailer, I'm surprised they're not talking about it debuting Super Bowl Sunday. It seems the obvious thing to do.

Prediction; Shia will be to Indy 4 what JarJar was to Episode I.
