I'm with Hobbs. These are all main stream critics and they are pretty much split down the middle. You can't use  that crap about the success of the first one killing the second, if it were a knock out of the park good movie they would be going crazy just like they did with TDK. Once again, I'm sure IM2 is going to be good and I'll even enjoy it but it probably won't be as good as it could have been because there is too much lead in for spin offs and sequels and not enough story for the movie itself. And Darkknight the consensus seems to be from all the reviews that the final action scene is even kind of a rip-off of the first one. Multiple critics have said that, they didn' t all get in a room and agree to say that, that was what they felt after watching it. I've read that in at least three reviews so far. That's a bummer because it looked so good. I'm just sayin' that LA times ran that story that mania clipped on c2f a few weeks ago about IM2 being bigger and better than TDK, well maybe not. Shack out.

That's good to know about the Hulk. I just hope they don't have to change actors again.

I hate critics, I always have. I have never listened to movie critics in my entire life. I don't even listen to other people's reviews of movies because the only person I listen to is me. I don't believe you can get a good idea of a movie's greatness by listening to critics. Critics usually can't tell their a$$holes from their elbows. A large majority of them are stuck-up douchenozzles that love award-worthy films. Case In Point: Roger Ebert hated Kick-Ass because of the ultra-violence and profane language from a child. After watching it, I thought it was an awesome movie and I laughed everytime Hit Girl spoke. The movie also renewed my faith in Nicholas Cage. That's just me. I've always been a fan of judging things for myself. Everyone should withhold judgment about a movie until they've seen it for themselves. Remember, those who can't become filmmakers become critics. Can't wait for Iron Man 2.

The thing is death4sale, for better or worse most people are sheep. If they read a review about a movie before they see it, they'll go into it with that in the back of their mind or  if its a bad review won't even bother seeing it. It doesn't make sense to me, because no one can tell me that I'm going to dislike or like something until I have experienced it first hand. Of course there are exceptions. Someone tells me stabbing myself in the balls is going hurt like hell, then yeah, I don't have to experience that to take note. Movies though are another story. Rotten Tomatoes could give IM2 a 10% rating and I'd still see it because I want to see it.

Anyway, anyone check out the IM2 video game prologue clip on Youtube? It is pretty sweet. How awesome would it be if Tony was actually building a SHIELD Helicarrier in the movie!

2 more days!

2 more days?  Is it opening in England this Friday pony?  That would explain the early screening to critics then.

To each thier own with reviews...I only care what other fans think if I'm on the fence about seeing a movie.  Something like IM2 that I have wanted to see since the first one, reviews are not going to influence me one way or another.  In the end the only thing that can hurt a blockbuster like IM2 is IM2...if it sucks then they have no one to blame but themself.  See Wolverine from last year to know what i'm talking about...though I didn't think that movie sucked it wasn't as good as it good have been and early bad reviews, word of mouth, and people who didn't care to see it a 2nd time hurt the movie overall.

I'm really hoping IM2 kicks ass and we get this summer season off on a good start...unlike last year.  Sheet after sheet last summer came out.  It seriously shouldn't be that hard to top last summer as there were only two or three movies worth seeing.

IM2 is currently batting 85% on rottenbtomatoes

I've always been consistent in ignoring critics. I don't hate them but theirs is just their opinion like anyone else's. They don't deserve anymore weight. Plus I feel that when you're a critic as time goes by you forget to enjoy films and just look for faults, because each has to be smarter than the next. ASnd they they grow more pompous as time goes on, that's just my opinion

And I usually ignore fans as well cause as anyone can tell by the arguments on this site, even genre fans can disagree. Look to Avatar or Transformers for good examples

I gotta agree about the critic thing...Shakespere In Love got amazing reviews....REALLY?? WTF?? unless it's gay cowboys eating pudding, the critics don't like it. Reviews should be based on the criteria for the genere it is in. Do you base a review on a kids movie the same way you would Brokeback Mountain?? I sure as hell hope not. I LOVE tons of movies that critics don't like,,,so, sometimes I do read reviews in the Star Ledger or something, but I never take it to heart...hell, I'm with Death4Sale, I usually don't even listen when a friend tells me it sucks, unless it's a friend that pretty much shares the same tastes as I do, but even then,,,I gotta see it for myself.,,,and I think Johnah Hex looks pretty cool. I love a good Western.

Depends what fans we are talking about...if there is a constant hater on this site I won't even pay attention to him but otherwise I care to read what others think of a moive good or bad.  Avatar was mostly positive...I know the spin is on that there was a lot of hate for the movie but I didn't see it.  People might not have loved it and pointed out some problems they had with it but they didn't hate it to the degree people think there was.

Now Transformers2...ugh..majority of fans hated that one and though I think hate is a strong word for it I didn't think it was that good.  The story wasn't thought out, it was too long, and way to many transformers in that one.  Sometimes you clutter the screen with all the crap in a shot, (see the SW prequels) and lose track of whats going on.

I don't expect everyone to agree or disagree but I like to hear multiple,  intelligent thoughts by fans on a movie.

Wiseguy 4/28/2010 7:16:24 AM

Good points Hobbs, but the reason I feel like I do is that sometimes I don't care if a movie is smart. I didn't care about Transformers or GI Joe's faults. I don't need every movie to have some deep meaning or even character development beyond what is needed for the story. Sometimes eye candy is acceptable and good enough in its own right. Of course this becomes a personal thing cause we'll accept cheesyness from some movies but hold others to a different standard. So at the end we're back to square one, different opinions, at least most of the time
