First Look: Evil Dead

Trap door shot

Last weekend at the New York Comic Con, Sony Pictures released the first image from Evil Dead. Here (below) we see Jane Levy as a Deadite. Having an image of her possessed is interesting, because the word around the con was she is the new Ash. I guess we’ll find out for sure on April 13, 2013.

The Plot: Mia (Jane Levy), a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.

The Evil Dead remake features Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, and Jessica Lucas. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez.

I will see this for sure. To me this is better quality than horror flicks like paranormal activity films. plus the original when I saw it at night at a young age, seriously scared the crap out of me! I couldn't stop talking about it.

fuck yeah can't wait that pic looks sick,  dammm cool.. why bother posting anything if the only thing you can come up with is the most childish coment , MEH"" what the F.u.c.k does that actualy mean? no no never mind "meh" i don't care is that close? lol.....

For anybody else who can't keep up, "Meh" is a non-committal response to something you have no strong feelings about either way.  I would have strong feelings about an Evil Dead sequel that Sam Raimi was directing, but alas, this is not it.  I don't care if he's producing.  The fact that the first choice to play "She Ash" in this movie was Kristen Stewart leads me to believe that they are not working hard enough to produce an even scarier and quality homage to the original.  It leads me to believe that they are looking to make another unwatchable teen "horror" movie that will likely pander to today's MTV kids who praise single teenage mothers and sparkly vampires.  In a word, MEH.

And my apologies, thezillaman...I forgot I comment only with the hopes of impressing you.  I shall endeavor to try harder in the future.

No Ash = no interest!

Horror films are pretty straight up cookie cutters (with the exception every now and then) with 5 or 6 teens in some sort of off the wall scenario that anyone in their right mind would not be in and then it's 1.5 hrs of watching 4 or 5 of them meet some gizzly demise and one walks away. The fact that Hollywood is even remaking the cookie cutters is pretty straight up funny. I think the next horror movie should have a bunch of 55 to 65 year old people being chased by some supernatural thing and then throw in one or two sex scenes and now we have some serious horror that will make people wish they had looked away. ;)

I don't hold the original in the esteem that some do but still curious about this, partly due to Jane Levy to be honest
