Columbia Pictures unleashed a new featurette clip for their upcoming superhero-gone-drunk tale Hancock during last night's broadcast of "American Idol". You can check out the clip below. The film stars Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman and Eddie Marsan. Director Peter Berg led the production, based on a screenplay penned by Vy Vincent Ngo and Vince Gilligan.

Plot Summary: There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he's a lost cause.

Hancock will hit theaters July 2, 2008.

Here's that first look.

This actually looks like it might be pretty good. Anyone want to figure the odds on whether Will Smith uses his signature exasperated "ahhhh, helllllll no" line somewhere in this flick?

Will Smith is about to OWN that weekend again, even though this feels like it's been done before.

Looks like fun. Don't know if it's worth my $$ to see it in the theater though--might wait for DVD.

I have to say, this looks great. I think Peter Berg is a very good up and coming director and shit, its Will Smith. Just based on this teaser and the other one before, it has all the makings of a really entertaining flick. Good actions, some really funny scenes, and a cool story. We all know Superman and how he copes with being a Superhero but Hancock is obviously not coping too well. That scene in the first teaser where he throws the whale back into the ocean is funny as hell and this one with the kid is just as funny. Will Smith knows how to do the funny and action, so I`m definitely looking forward to this. Jason Bateman as the PR guy is the icing on the cake. He`s damn funny too. Charlize Theron? nuff said

Looks good. All his movies look good, til u go see them. (uh oh, i just started WWIII). Is Theron the bad guy in this? Didn't really see her in the trailer. Just a quick sec.
I like when he's in movies like this.. i.e. I,Robot - when he doesnt have to act and just b himself kinda. Leave the acting to the actors Will.. lol

I just really find it funny when people say stuff like that. Have you ever met the dude? Do you guys hang out? So, how do you know when he`s playing himself and not "acting"? Will Smith has always been a good actor. He is more of a movie star than an actor but all the shit he`s been in has been pretty quality, with the exception of WWW and Bad Boys 2 which was just a bad flick. People love to hate!

Don't get ur panties all bunched up ponyboy. IF i have to elaborate every freekin time i write something i'm goin to start tearing into people. ...... What i should hae said WAAAASSSSS, his "acting" in I, Robot or MIB just seemed a little more normal for him... more laid back and natural. OK? So relax. and move on to a new issue.
