First Look at G.I Joe's SNAKE EYES

Paramount Pictures and director Stephen Sommers have revealed the first official look at actor Ray Park ( X-Men) as character Snake Eyes for their upcoming adaptation of G.I Joe. Park will be starring alongside Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston. Scribe Stuart Beattie penned the screenplay of the 80's Marvel comic series.

Director Sommers also talked about the character with USA Today.

Sommers stressed that the movie is an origins story, so his challenge is to explain why the bad guy wears a metal mask, why Snake Eyes doesn't talk and other strange things kids took for granted. "For people who know nothing about it, it'll make sense," Sommers said. "And to people who love this stuff, it'll show where they all came from."

G.I Joe will hit theaters August 7, 2009.

Yeah, I have to admit u can't make snake eyes look any better. However, I hate stephen sommers, movies. They all look good, but they're always cheesy as hell. Hopefully he can pull it off.

I remember Ray Park looked BAD ASSSS as Darth Maul leading up to the much hyped Phantom Menace. All the photo stills and composites had me going. THEN I saw Phantom. Ugh. Bad ass photos don't necessarily mean good.

I liked the Mummy movies and even Van Helsing. They are definitely tongue-in-cheek films. I'm not sure why I like films by Sommers and not ones by Emmerich. I guess it comes down to who takes themselves seriously.

Now, I hope GI JOE is not completely far fetched like his previous movies, but we must keep in mind that this is based on a comic book / cartoon series.

Looks awesome....I think this movie will kick ass.....I mean, it's not like the cartoon was that great, and don't even get me started on the G.I. Joe movie...that was shit....Stephen Sommers knows how to make fun popcorn mmovies, and that is what G.I. Joe should be.
