This genre is getting old quick.
I may check it out though depending on what I see. But we've already seen Wilson trying to be the hero in the Office

Under the guidance of genre fanatic and director James Gunn, comedian-actor Rainn Wilson is ready to unleash some costumed alter ego chaos in Super. And helmer Gunn has revealed the first look of Wilson in spandex courtesy of his official website. Check it out below. You can also watch the SDCC panel video. Beyond Rainn Wilson, the film also stars Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker as well as producers Ted Hope and Miranda Bailey. Gunn (Slither and the humorous short takes PG Porn) directed from a story he wrote.
Plot Concept: "Super" is a comedy that takes aim at the superhero genre. Wilson plays an average guy who takes on the pseudo-superhero alter ego of the Crimson Bolt, after watching his wife (Tyler) fall under the spell of a charming drug dealer. Lacking super powers, he compensates by swinging a trusty wrench.
No distribution deal locked in just yet.

You mean the superhero comedy genre? Or just turning any genre they can get their hands on into a comedy? I didn't like Slither. It was just stupid. Nathan Fillion was cool, though, but the rest of the movie was crap. So after Superhero Movie, Defendor and now this Super movie, yeah, we may need to slack off on this type of thing. As with most comedies, I'll wait for cable.
The funniest thing about this movie is the idea that Liv Tyler would be married to Rainn Wilson... Other than that, it sounds dumb.
It's probably a good thing I don't go to sdcc. Listening to all the panels there would get me to see almost everything. Rainn Wilson & Nathon Fillion were pretty funny. I love the fact that everyone did the movie for scale. I can't promise I'll see this in the theater but I will definitely check it out at some point.
