First Look: Necronomicon

From the New Evil Dead

By Robert T. Trate     November 01, 2012
Source: Total Film

To quote the original Evil Dead: “bound in human flesh and inked in blood, this ancient Sumerian text contained bizarre burial rites, funerary incantations and demon resurrection passages.” The Book of the Dead aka the Necronomicon unleashed the Deadites on Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his friends in the original two movies. In keeping with that part of the original two films director Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead will also feature the book. Here are two pictures (from Total Film) on what the new Necronomicon will look like.
Produced by Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi, and co-starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas, Evil Dead opens in the UK and the US on the 12th of April 2013.

Looks nice, i liked the other book that contained a face, it made it look alive in a way.

I am with horcuxx. I looks cool but I like how the old school Necronomicon look alive because it had a face on it. It looked more evil and demonic than this new version.

What is the face on that demon/thing on the page? I know the Necronomicon was supposed to have been written by an Arab magician in the Lovecraft stories. I hope people won't take that to be some type of depiction of him. There's enough ethnic and religious trouble going on in the world.

Fits well with the new route their going...

Looks like the back or the original.  Still not excited.

I cant stand switching out characters for remakes or previous versions. It just reeks of desperation. I avoided BSG after destroying Starbuck and will avoid this and stick to all my previous versions of the Ash storyline.

This movie will suck. Mark my words.

Brainbox: The newer BSG was some of the best sci-fi TV ever. Your loss. Although I tend to agree with you about switching sexes or races for main roles in reboots.

I'm of course on board with this movie. I'm just not so sure about their choice of taking out the comedy aspect of the movie, which is what made it so wildly popular, and an instant cult-classic to begin with. Making it extremely graphic from what I see may work though, as horror-comedy probably won't work with todays audience.
