First Look at the New Jason VOORHEES

The upcoming re-imagining of that masked killer Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th finally has some video footage to show for it. Filming is underway by director Marcus Nispell, based on a screenplay by JvF scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The film stars Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Travis van Winkle, Aaron Yoo, Jonathan Sadowski, Willa Ford, Derek Mears and Arlen Escarpeta.

As you can see in the clip below, co-star Amanda Righetti does the commentating for MTV.

Plot Summary: A new take on the Jason Voorhees legend. Jason will be fully sized, with mask and trusty machete but it won't be a sequel.

Friday the 13th will hit theaters Feb. Friday, 13, 2009.

I wonder what next horror movie Hollywood will destroy? They should remake "Phantasm" or "Nightmare on Elm Street", seriously some movies shouldn't be remade even if Hollywood is fresh-out of orginality.

I agree the mask looks like how it always does... and yes they are remaking A Nightmare on Elm Street, (my personal favorite) without Robert Englund, not sure how I feel about that one. I've always had fun with slasher films, growin' up with them so remakes don't bother me... As long as there done well which is a different story entirely.

WOW! The mask looks........just like the old one! How original! What's next? "here is the re-imagined machete, no wait it's different see because the handle is black instead of brown now"! Since there is not one original idea here, let's just recast Kane Hodder and get to some carnage already. What a joke.

If this is a sort of restart, then he shouldn't even have the hockey mask. The original didn't get the mask until the 4th movie. Heck, the first movie wasn't even Jason, but Jason's mom.

Well I am not gonna complain, lol

But I will express my confusion on the point of this movie.

Everyone involved is giving their own take on what purpose this movie serves. So its not a sequel? But its a re-imagining? So why not start from the very beginning then? Will this be like a SR in which they are starting off from the end of the first or second one? I mean, what is the point of this remake?
