Thanks to a web album from Epcot Servo, the first look for Disney & Pixar's UP has made its way online. The picture is really a snapshot of a new billboard near Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. You can check out the billboard below. Nobody has been attached as starring in this upcoming animation but Pete Doctor is directing, based on a screenplay he penned alongside Bob Peterson.

Plot Summary: A coming-of-old-age story about a seventy-something guy who lives in a house that "looks like your grandparents' house smelled." He befriends a clueless young Wilderness Ranger and gets into lots of alter kocker altercations. Says Pixar: "Our hero travels the globe, fights beasts and villains and eats dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon."

UP will hit theaters June 12, 2009.

Here's that new billboard..

"Pixar" is all you have to say and you have my interest. The plot does sound interesting and seems that it'll be packing a bit of action to boot. Wall-E isn't even out and I'm already looking forward to this one.

Is it just me, or does that pic look like classic 2D animation

^It looks 2D because it is concept art. They always do their conept art in a hand drawn fashion. The final product will be CGI like all other Pixars.

When is Toy Story 3 coming out?

I'm with WISEGUY562. Pixar can do no wrong. I'm as excited to see WALL-E this summer as I am for Iron Man or Dark Knight.

And hanso, TS3 is set for 6/18/10, according to this article from just the other day: http://www.mania.com/57243.html

It could be concept art, but I doubt it. If memory serves me correctly, Pixar was set to do 2-D animation, as well as continue in their 3-D ani-opuses, ever since taking over the bulk of the Disney animation studios. They wanted to prove that the art of animation is limited only by the conventions of storytelling, and not because of the medium it is done in. Before Pixar took over, there was a lot of noise, no thanks to Michael Eisner, that 2D animation was becoming a thing of the past, and no longer a viable medium to produce Disney works in, opting for 3D to be the "new wave that replaces the old". Hogwash. I'm SO glad Eisner's gone.

Pixar is ALL about compelling stories, and they rarely budge from that point. I'm willing to say that it's not a concept art piece, but a STILL from the movie itself.

It wouldn't surprise me.

And believe it or not, a 2D PIXAR film would be as fascinating to watch to me as a 3D animated one. You'd know they'd have something up their sleeve in the story somewhere.

Can't wait to see it.

trazalca, I couldn't possibly agree with you more. Pixar has my interest and support no matter what medium they choose to use for their movies. It wouldn't bother me at all if this was 2D. As cool as 3D is, the WOW factor isn't quite what it used to be. That's not a bad thing to me. It's all about story for me.

I am in. Pixar = The Goods, nuff said....

I would be willing to bet a good chunk of change that Lucas wished he had not sold Pixar to Steve Jobs and then I would bet even more money that Jobs wished he had not sold it to Disney and we all know Disney will never sell Pixar because there is allot of material in the vault that needs to have Disney suck more dollars signs out of...I guess if you buy a company for 7.4 billion or in stock trade from what I understand then you better make as much money as possable off of it...Wiki has Pixar coming in at 5 billion dollars from movie ticket sales, how sweet it is to own Pixar...

Well said Trazalca. I once read that markerters said 2D animation is to kids today what b&w TV is to everyone else. Well, not true in so many ways. I was glad to hear that the 2D animation studios were reopening. Besides, it's hogwash considering that the majority of cartoons on TV are all 2D (or with some cel shading to look 2D for the 3D parts), and plenty of kids watch those!
I was thrilled to see that awesome Sport Goofy cartoon at the beginning of Natinal Treasure 2. Done in exactly the style and tone of the originals, and yet perfectly blended with the idea of a modern home theatre.
