Ditto. Looks good and a good cast to boot.
Where's the release date?

With SXSW wrapping up in Austin, director Simon West has revealed a new promo trailer for his action-adventure The Mechanic, a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film. Check it out down below. The film stars Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland and Christa Campbell.
Director Simon West led from a screenplay he wrote.
Plot Concept: A reinvention of the 1972 Charles Bronson action classic "The Mechanic." In the film, Foster will play Steve McKenna, the young man who becomes an apprentice to a hitman played by Jason Statham. Sutherland will play the role of Foster's father and Statham's handler.
looks pretty cool. Although, are they going to change the ending, because if not then we already know what hapens.
I like Statham and I like Foster but not enough to go see this in the theater, it's a rental for me too.
I just watched some of the original recently on MGMHD, I believe. Gotta love a Bronson movie with no dialogue for the first twenty minutes or so. This remake sounds good to me. Not sure I'll make the theater, but I will definitely make an effort to see it at some point.
Ben Foster is a great actor and doesn't get the credit he deserves. Can't wait to see this.
Was is just me or was there not a shot of Donald Sutherland in the trailer at all?
Ben Foster for Captain America.
Statham for Iron Fist.
Although it looks kind of cool, it just seems like it will go straight to video.
I LOVED the original of this movie: Charles Bronson post-Death Wish, and a young Jan-Michael Vincent as teacher and pupil assassins. It was GREAT! I remember watching it one afternoon on HBO when I was home alone as a kid. Really cool flick.
Not thrilled about the idea of a remake. Just another little chance for Hollywood to bastardize a happy memory of mine, thereby further shredding my childhood. <sigh>
The original was subtle, it was smooth. This just looks like the basic concept with a lot more guns, explosions, and nudity. Not to mention, as much as I like Jason Statham in action roles, he does not have NEARLY the suave or calm threatening persona that Bronson had. Bronson just always came off like a quiet sociopath in his movies. Statham is too amped up. And Simon West is not exactly John McTiernan, Ridley Scott, or James Cameron when it comes to knowing how to direct "quiet" or "subtle."
Looks like it's worth a watch.
