Just gave a quick once over at webmd, sounds horrible bro. So that cuases all those problems, puts you at higher risk for colon cancer and fucks up your joints. God bless you man, I'm glad to hear you've overcome a lot of that and are enjoying your life. Stick to your healthy lifestyle, no one knows how long we have but I'm of the mind that I'd rather be as healthy as possible to enjoy it

How you deal with the pain?

thezillaman 8/23/2012 8:28:36 PM

@VTG, you made it this far, you sound like a fighter, and happy to hear you still enjoy your life. keep fighting on my brother. and stay with us here on this site.

Well, my colon is gone, so the disease is gone too.  But the arthritis in my knees is still there, but it's really not too bad.  Docs aren't really certain that my back issues have anything to do with the UC; probably not.  As far as dealing with the back pain, fortunately it isn't a constant thing.  It's really just one of those issues where it gets aggravated now and then.  I have a herniated disc in my lower back and I think I just slipped another one in the middle of my back while working the other day; I've got an appointment with my orthopedist in two weeks to check that out.  But when it gets aggravated I basically can't walk for like a week, in which case I do have to take oxycodone or something like that.  Luckily I have a very high pain tolerance though.  Partly genetic and partly from having played football and other sports in my youth and just being used to dealing with pain on a regular basis.

As far as the kidney stones, they actually are a side effect of the surgery I had to cure the UC.  They're kinda unpredictable and come and go as they please.  Thankfully, most of the time they're so small that they aren't super painful and sometimes they even pass without my knowledge.  But I've had a couple that were about a half inch in diameter.  I can't even explain pain like that.  So anyway, the best way for me to deal with everything is to exercise and stay healthy.  I'm a little overweight right now, so I'm working on that by eating right and going to the gym four times a week.  This will help my back problems.  But again, I feel very fortunate and I have a great life.  I wouldn't change a thing!  I'm a lover of life!

Kudos to you. Guess it would be easy to play the victim and sour on life, glad to see you doing the opposite and making the best of what's in front of you and enjoying life. Much respect and luck going forward.

Goodnight I've been ordered to shut the computer off ;)

VTGamehendge 8/23/2012 9:13:45 PM

Haha, goodnight to you too, sir.  I appareciate the kudos.  Just gotta keep on keepin' on.  Nobody's gonna feel sorry for me and I'm not gonna feel sorry for myself.

I am a 28 year old male who is married to a woman that is 50 years old. We met on cougarkissing.c/0/m since I was 21. I fell in love with her shortly after meeting her and I love her more now than before. This is the most complete and loving relationship I have ever had. And to a person that posted before, I didn’t have any trouble getting girls my own age. And I do emphasize "girls". Most women my age are not ready for a mature relationship even if they say they are. All they want to do is play house but when real life finally knocks on the door they don’t want anything to do with it. Age doesn’t have as much to do with the relationship as one would think. My wife and I both love and respect each other regardless of our ages and neither of us have ever been so happy.

@VTG, keep fighting the good fight; it's always great to hear people taking on their problems head on.

Now lovecougar, tell me more about where I can get me some of that fine cougar action.  I bet you enjoy all those AARP discounts and perks too!
