It seems after The Matrix and Cloud Atlas the Wachowski’s are really letting loose on the genre. Check out Entertainment Weekly exclusive first photo of Jupiter Ascending. Here Channing Tatum plays a half-wolf, half-albino genetic warrior. Yes, you read that right.

Synopsis: Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things.  Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks.  Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” is written and directed by the Wachowskis.  Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom they have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing, together with Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski.  Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.

Jupiter Ascending features Channing Tatum (“Magic Mike”) and Mila Kunis (“Oz the Great and Powerful”) lead an international cast that also includes Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy), Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”), Douglas Booth (“LOL”), Tuppence Middleton (TV’s “The Lady Vanishes”), Doona Bae (“Cloud Atlas”), James D’Arcy (“Hitchcock”) and Tim Pigott-Smith (“Alice in Wonderland”).

Jupiter Ascending arrives July 25, 2014.

Half-wolf?? Love it! I hope to Jebus there's a scene where he takes the beautiful Jupiter home to his den to meet his alien wolf parents. Shenanigans ensue!

Looking forward to this. I just wish it wasn't Kunis as the lead. But I'll see anything the Wachowskis make

Btw Bob the release date on this has changed to July 18

Looking forward to seeing how the Wachowskis kill off Sean Bean in this movie.

Half-wolf, I get... but what the heck is a half-albino?!

I hate that Tatum continues to get lead roles because of his looks... he has got to be one of the worst "leading" actors of our lifetime.

Good to be back on Mania ...

...for the last week or so my Chrome browser wouldn't allow me to visit...said Mania was infected with malware.

Where else can I read crazy stuff about half albinos (does that mean one pink iris and one brown one or white hair on the face and head but dark hair elsewhere?)....and that Channing Tatum is the one of the worst actors of our lifetime (seen many movies momitchell7 ?).

Looking forward to reading more like this and spirited debates over things like how big wonderwoman's muscles and breasts should be in the upcoming Superman vs Batman flick.  I need this silly jabbering to get my mind off reality... really missed it the past week.

Not a Channing Tatum fan at all. His "good looks" do nothing for me since I am not gay, so all he can do to impress is act, and he doesn't do that well at all.

Not sure about this movie. I need to see more, or read more about it. I'll hold judgment for now, but at least it is not a remake!

So Blank likes Tatum - good for you. I didn't say "THE worst", I said "ONE OF..."

momitchell7 1/8/2014 11:14:40 AM

And yes... I do see quite a few movies and I ABSOLUTELY stand by that statement... keep in mind I also stated "LEAD roles". He can be in all the movies they want to have him in as a supporting actor, but as a lead man? Come on... He is definitely one of the worst - of ALL TIME!!!

I don't particularly care for Tatums performances but can't really evaluate his acting ability based on the vehicles he's been involved in.  It's very difficult to make lemonade from lemons.  It all starts with the writing...if the writing is garbage its hard for an actor or a director to rise above it.  I doubt  Laurence Olivier could turn in a stellar performance in G.I, Joe.

Mania is a website for Fantasy, Sci-fi, Horror, Anime and Comic Books...99% of the stuff in those genres is stupid crap (giant monsters, super heroes, time-machines, dragons...etc).  We don't like it because it's intelligent , real or relevant...we like it because it's cool, escapist fun, outrageous, loud, scary, over the top

Talented actors are not required for films in these genres...cool dudes are...like Diesel, Hemsworth, Evans, Cavill...Tatum's primary job in these movies is to bring an element of cool to his role.

If you are looking for good acting I suggest you try "Her" or "Inside Llewyn Davis," and avoid popcorn flicks with half wolf, half albino genetic warriors.

Ah c'mon, everyone's got to be allowed an opinon right?  I hated Channing Tatum until 21 Jump St, now I love him, and blame the past hate on the shitty movies as a whole, not his performance.  I used to Hate Paul Walker, until the 4th Fast movie, and then I embraced him for what he'll deliver and I actually grew to like him quite a bit, which of course made his death much more shocking and tragic.  I actually think Mila Kunis is not a very good actor and aside from her looks she's not very entertaining, gonna echo Wise on that not liking her in the lead thing, Channing is actually ok to me now!  But I love the Wachowski's films and I'll always watch what they do.
