The first Possession trailer was released this week. Wait... what is this new film called The Possession

The Plot: The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

The Possession is directed by Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch) and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer). This film was previously known as Dibbuk Box and has been produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures.

The Possession arrives in theaters on August 31st, 2012.

Based on a true story...  I'm sorry but that really pisses me off.  Why?  Because there are plenty of people who are stupid enough to believe it!  False advertising

I'm just happy to see a new possession film not based on Catholic mythos. Not too into this genre nowadays but may check this out

So, after cabin in the woods, we've just given up on the whole "originality" thing ? Just how many ghost/haunting/exorcism/possesion movies are they going to churn out ? Then again I guess they can't just stop making horror movies, so the have to do something with their money, right ?

...(they have to), not the have to, my mistake.
