With the theatrical release of Underworld Awakening, Sony Screen Gems chose this weekend as the time to reveal the first teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution. Check out the first trailer down below and sound off with your thoughts. The fifth installment in the genre franchise stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing. Franchise helmer and producer Paul W.S. Anderson returned behind the camera, based on a screenplay he penned.

Plot Concept: The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Resident Evil: Retribution invades a theater near you on September 14, 2012.

We all know that this movie is nothing but a guilty pleasure for most of us - I'm going in looking for nothing but a kick arse time.

Exactly aegrant. To be honest at times I feel RE fatigue but watching the trailer put a smile on my face. It just looks like ridiculous fun

Very cool making you think it's an ad for Verizon or AT&T then it turns into Zombies, monsters and sexy badass babes with big ass guns and swords. Sweet! And nice touch with Patrick Stewart doing the voice over.

Forget your brain at the door but will still be a kick-ass ride, should be fun.

I have to admit, as much as i cant stand anymore RE movies just cuz idk how much more toothpaste they can squeeze out of the tube, but that trailer was pretty dam sick!

Skroin 1/20/2012 10:51:23 AM

I'll definately be seeing this one. I've enjoyed most of the RE films. I  know they're not Oscar-worthy, but definately a fun ride to watch.

TheMovieGuy28 1/20/2012 10:55:24 AM

oh look! they've reshaped resident evil to look like underworld! and they use the tron:legacy music to make you think it's tron!

::does the manblast hand jesture:: Not for nothing, but how many fuckin people are left on earth? By now, those zombies should have killed just about everyone, and would be emaciated piles of goop because all the food is gone.

there is a special place in hell for those who waste good scotch....and for those who make resident evil films

hanso 1/20/2012 11:47:09 AM

1st, this thing ain't Resident Evil.

2nd, this looks like complete sh.it.  I didn't think it was possible to make something worse than Resident Evil 4, but it looks like the Resident Evil 5 folks really are trying.

3rd, fu.ck Capcom for letting their video game franchises get raped by Hollywood.  Seeing RE and StreetFighter get constantly raped is a damn shame.

raa2001 1/20/2012 12:27:57 PM

Yeah they really screwed up Resident evil. Although the movies are still a guilty pleasure of mine and I'm sure I'll be seeing this anyways.  Maybe oneday there will be a reboot done the correct way.

Movieguy... PERFECT take! Paul Anderson is the biggest rip-off artist in Hollywood history, yet he continues to get away with it in every movie that he does... Sheesh.

WHERE THE HECK DID ALL THESE PEOPLE COME FROM?!?!?! I thought everyone was dead, man!

All that said... I'll probably check it out, because it looks pretty cool.
