I know I like these films but I can't really remember the plot of the second one at all except that Keith Urban was the bad guy.  Looking forward to this.  And yes, Starbuck!

SeriosYelder, like for all the actor's it's all about the money. Not so sure pitch and chronicles brought in as much Mula as fast and furious has and is still. And they are now working on fast 7..

I know I'll see this.

The problem I always have with the two films is that Pitch Black was sort of a realistic (for sci-fi) gritty story of what happens to these people in a dire situation. Riddick is a badass but he is a human badass.  COR was like Conan or 300. It was the story told around campfires of the the greatest warrior that ever lived and the superhuman godlike things he did. And the universe in the first is feels very small, like Earth has only been venturing into space a hundred years or so. COR took place in a world expanded to a huge star spanning civilization that could very well be 1000s of years old.  It was two different genres in the same series.

This one feels like they are going bck to the gritty and real this time.

violator, true I didn't think of it like that. A sci-fi conan saga like type. .

I really liked both Pitch Black and COR so looking forward to this one.  I actually liked COR better so hopefully they continue to build on that mythology while having some space monsters thrown in for good measure a la Pitch Black.

Zilla, I had the opposite view of the first two movies: Pitch Black was great, I watch it every time it hits caple, but Chronicles went too far out.  Instead of scary situation meets scarier guy it went into this epic pseudo-mystical space opera with Riddick as some sort of lost prince.  Personally I prefered the basic bad-ass storyline instead of the second-rate Star Wars riff.

Pitch Black came in as overlooked, oh by the way, B movie. So when it kicked ass and blew beyond the non-existent expectations it makes it easier to appreciate.

Chronicles' expectations were much higher hence the disappointment by some.

I think they're both awesome but Pitch is definitely a cult favorite of mine.

Can't  wait for this but you can see they're not holding out for huge box office considering the release date

Ill definitely check this out, but it looks alot like just a mux of the last two... and the last few movies it doesnt look like Vin Diesel is hitting the gym to hard for the the roles. he looks a lot smaller now than Pitch Black or the first F&F

I liked Pitch Black better that Riddick, but I enjoyed them both a lot.  I'm ready for another movie, but I hope this isn't just another Pitch Black.

COR was to me, like the Dune movie that was released in the 80's, very theatrical, and a bit over the top, but that's what makes it so classic. It's a different take on sci-fi, and I like that. When I look back on Pitch Black, I think of it as a character piece, revving you toward that character's ultimate adventure: COR. Ships with huge faces? Cult that is half-dead? Ghost beings chained by tangible objects to keep track of them? Great and original concept.

However...

I'm not all that jazzed by this trailer as it looks like they're ditching the BIG picture in favor of the dark/simple theme of the first. And, please, can somebody tell these Hollywood jokes those slow motion-falling down-shooting an arrow/throwing a knife/shooting a gun-all the while dodging incoming fire are lame and WAY OVERDONE! When I see those in trailers now I immediately go into, "Ho hum, a Netflixer" mode. And, they could have had Thandie Newton back! She was mhmm fine in COR.
