Mulder's back!!!

Since this one is not linked to the previous movie or TV show I wonder if cancer man and the Lone Gunmen will be back too?

It is standalone only in the sense of the story. The plot of this one is said to not follow the "Black Blood" Alien-centric story line of Fight the Future or the last few seasons of the series. This one is supposed to take us back to the roots of X-Files and deal with x-files other than aliens... supposedly.
So much to you're disappointment Miner, Cancer Man and the Lone Gunmen probably won't be back... Cancer man for sure. I'm just sad that Cigarette Smoking Man can't come back... he was a good villian IMHO...

Peet, looks like an FBI agent, but Duchovny looks like an out of work writer who just slept with his ex girlfriend`s fiancee`s daughter. Hank Moody,.. you Rock!!

Calhoun1677, why can't Cigarette Smoking Man come back? I just checked Wiki and William B. Davis is still alive and acting.

ponyboy76,

LOL. I love Californication. It is a really good show.

Moving onward, this movie is making me happy...with JOY! To steal a quote from Miner49er and add a bit of my own. MULDER IS BACK! and so is SCULLY!!!

I wish they showed BOTH Scully and Mulder....but peet is good.....MMmmmmmm Peeeeeeeeet.

I thought Mulder and Scully were on the run from the FBI. Now they're back as agents? I'm confused...

So much time has passed since the last movie, they could have had kids like Shila Lawhat'shisname.

Mike10 Cigarette Smoking man can't come back because the character is dead. Died in one of the last shows, if not the finale.

Cigarette Smoking Man/Cancer Man/C.G.B. Spender was killed in the final X-Files episode "The Truth." Mulder and Scully found him hiding out in some desert valley that came under attack from helicopters. The cave where Cancer Man was shacked up in was fired upon by the copters and blown to bits, along with Cancer Man.

I thought Mulder and Scully were on the run from the FBI as well since Mulder was arrested and put on trial in the final episode. Scully quit the FBI to be with him, even after having given up their baby William. Maybe since they still had some allies within the Bureau (Skinner and Kersh) the new FBI agents in this film are assigned to help them in whatever case they are investigating.

About the villains on the show, my personal fav was Krycek. He was an alliance unto himself and would only work with anyone if it helped his own cause, much like Sark on Alias.

I'm surprised that it'll have been 10 years since the previous film. In many ways they should have ditched the tv show and done a movie every year or two instead.

I wonder if the inclusion of Peet means that Gillian's looks have reached their sell-by date?

I also wonder if Mitch Pileggi, Robert Patrick or Annabeth Gish will show up for this? I though Agents Doggett & Reyes were great and what will "The X-Files" be without Skinner?

I fear this movie is a case of striking while the fire has long since turned to ashes...
