Warner Bros. Pictures has unleashed the first trailer for their sci-fi thriller Splice courtesy of MSN Movies. You can check it out down below. The film will star Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley and Delphine Chaneac. Director Vincenzo Natali oversaw the production from a script he wrote with Antoinette Terry Bryant and Doug Taylor.

Plot Concept: Clive (Brody) and Elsa (Polley) are superstars of the genetic engineering world. They specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create fantastical new hybrids. The charismatic couple wants to use human DNA in a new hybrid – something that could yield astronomical medical benefits. The pharmaceutical company that funds their research, however, is more interested in exploiting their earlier triumphs for easier, short-term profit. Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiment. The result is Dren: an amazing creature who exhibits an array of unexpected developments, both physical and intellectual. Dren exceeds their wildest dreams... and, ultimately, their most terrifying nightmare.

Splice will hit theaters June 4, 2010.

Reminds me of Species. Especially the hot box scene.

That's a bit of a change usually it's the corperate weasel who pushes to take things to the next level to use Human DNA.

gauleyboy420 4/2/2010 3:16:43 PM

That looks good. It's just unnerving...

violator14 4/2/2010 3:58:12 PM

The birth of Voldemort??

Wiseguy 4/2/2010 3:58:38 PM

Yeah, I think monkeyfoot hit it on the head, SPECIES. Looks pretty good though, I may check this out

Unnerving is right. And I got the Species vibe, as well, but this just somehow seems... different enough to stand on its own legs. I dunno, I really don't like watching horror movies, but this one is intriguing.

I was working at CORE when the vfx team was working on this.  The creature looks pretty awesome once she's all grown up.

Dragon, it's even wierder that the weasel advising caution is Rodney McKay.

I didn't recognize him with the facial hair. Glad to see him getting work after Atlantis folded.

I see a few different films merged here. One is Species, as monkeyfoot said, and of course Frankenstein, and a little of Hollow Man; particularly the part where they jump the gun and conduct the experiment without anyone's knowledge.

Hollow Man, people! :P
