The first teaser trailer for Punisher: War Zone has popped up online courtesy of IGN, which you can watch down below. The film, which is a re-imagining of the comic icon, stars Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Doug Hutchinson, Colin Salmon, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok and Julie Benz. Lexi Alexander directed the film for Lionsgate, based on a screenplay that she co-wrote alongside Matt Holloway, Art Marcum and Nick Santora.

Plot Summary: Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

Punisher: War Zone will hit theaters Dec. 5, 2008.

Looks f'ing terrible.

Why does it seem like every iteration of The Punisher is the wrong one? Is it so hard to get it right?

Oh yeah, after a 1 min and 6 seconds of fast footage, I can tell everything about this movie. Give me a break! I think people just like to say negative shit, because it sounds cool. From what I saw, it looks alot like Marvel's MAX Punisher. I liked the version with Thomas Jane but this looks a lot more raw and visceral which is what you want from a Punisher movie. Also looks like they are going the proper origin story too. I can't wait for the proper trailer.

I dunno man, I just don't have a good feeling about it. Part of it stems from my raised eyebrow over the casting choice... Still haven't been able to lower it since I first read about it. You're right though... A minute of footage isn't enough, and it isn't fair to pass negative judgment on a casting choice without seeing him in action... But spinning from a chandelier with guns blazing and that "sometimes I'd like to get my hands on god" delivery didn't exactly send shivers down my spine.

Well, I do agree with that Sport. I don`t know who cut together this teaser but they didn't really do a great job. There are some scenes I can get behind, but for the life of me, since reading Punisher comics, I don`t think Frank Castle would ever spin from a chandelier. He`s just not that cavalier. The rest of the stuff they got. He`s not really a one-liner type of guy either so maybe that`s the best they could come up with, without changing his character.

The scene where he's standing on the table with all the guys around it is too reminiscent of "The Crow" for me (I'm sure someone will tell me it was done before Brandon but anyway)... I feel like this type of storyline has been used up (1 lone man on a rampage due to a tragic loss) but I can always hope for a fresh approach - not sure this will be it but will cross my fingers and wait for a longer trailer.

1 minute was enough for me, the film looks like shit maybe shit is to strong a word but it just looks like a regular run of the mill flick nothing special about it fromt that trailer, I couldn't even tell if that was Steven Segal or not.<BR itxtvisited="1" />Maybe a longer trailer will change my mind but as of right now in the words of Rick James:<BR itxtvisited="1" /><BR itxtvisited="1" />"I wish I had more hands, so I could give those titties 4 thumbs down!"
ponyboy76 6/13/2008 6:09:59 AM
Really, what do you want? Its not supposed to be special! Its the damn Punisher. Its based on a comic book about a guy whose family is killed and he goes nuts for revenge. He decides to paint a freakin Skull on his chest and calls himself the Punisher. I really don't think its supposed to be all that deep. "1 lone man on a rampage due to a tragic loss" is exactly what the story of the Punisher is, so if you're looking for something fresh and new, you might want to look somewhere else. Oh yeah, and on another note Celtics in 6, Lakers Suck!! Yeah!!!!And what??
Wiseguy 6/13/2008 6:21:09 AM
pony got it right. The Punisher isn't some type of superhero or someone from the Matrix. He's just an expert at what he does and on weapons. I think it looks the way a Max Punisher version should look and that's what Lexi was gunning for. note to Lakers' fans (hanso et al) I am repeating this every where today That's how you pull off a comeback. No that half ass shit that went down in game 2. Either you do it all the way or else it isn't worth talking about. I was about to jump out of my window at halftime but only cause I'm on the first floor. I knew we had the Lakers right where we wanted them, 24 point ahead and ripe for the kill. BOOO HAA HAA HA ha ha ha...Yeah that's my evil laugh. Celtics and the Hulk rampaging through June Baby. GREEN ALL THE WAY

Who is talking about the film being deep? I just said the trailer sucks balls, even u can agree to that cause you said it.<BR itxtvisited="1" /><BR itxtvisited="1" />You know what movie looked awesome and it was about "1 lone man on a rampage due to a tragic loss"? Irascible already mentioned it, The Crow. Who ever is in charge of this film is doing a terrible job. The first pic they release of the PUnisher was shit and now they are trying to out do themselves with a shit trailer. Not saying the film will be shit but what the way they are going about releasing stuff for it, is.
