Five new images of George A. Romero's upcoming DIARY OF THE DEAD have appeared online courtesy of Bloody Disgusting. One of the pics has a new zombie chowing down on a body part. This upcoming installment in his "Dead" franchise premieres Saturday September 8, 2007 at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film itself is shot in more of an indie style closer to Romero's original Night of the Living Dead and away from the big budget studio film which was Land of the Dead.

Plot Summary: The film will follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a "cinema verite" style that causes more than the usual production headaches.

I love the "Dead" movies.....I am looking forward to this....Land of the Dead was a bit of a departure, but I still loved it. I really loved the Dawn of the Dead remake, that movie was a lot of fun. Can't wait to see a trailer for this.

IMO... Land of the Dead was good, but proved apoint, the old stumbling zombies just aren't scary anymore.... I know this isn't a popular opinion, but Zach Snyder's new fast zombies were damn scary.... for those who disagree, if you were left woth the choice, which would you rather face.... The runners were, fast and crazy strong... I'd rather tackle the old stumblers witha cricket bat any day...
Anywho, I have high hopes for this cause it's Romero, but I doubt I'll be on the edge of my seat.

I wasn't thrilled with Land of the Dead and thought Day of the Dead was just plain awful, but Night and Dawn were such great movies that I'm eagerly awaiting Romero's next chapter. If this wasn't a Romero movie, I'd probably pass because of all of the zombie movies that have come out in recent years; the genre's a little played out for me.

I agree wessmith. After '28 Days Later' zombie movies have been pouring out and their reimagining is far from what 'Night of the Living Dead' was for me. Isn't there another sequel to 28 days ... something like 28 months being made or thought of? Can't remember how the '28 Weeks Later' did. I'll wait for a trailer to make my final decision on this one.

I agree Madmaniac. Snyder's zombiers were far more scarier and I guess the film had to do something to set them apart from the original, which ended up working.

I love all Romero's films, even the ones that are not zombie filled, but there is no theatrical release yet? What is going on? I like how he is gong to cycle it through the festivals but at the same time, I want to see it in my theatre, yo!

"Land of the Dead" was great and the "Dawn of the Dead" remake by Zack Snyder was very entertaining...I look forward to this.
