Five TV Spots for CLOVERFIELD

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Monday, December 31, 2007

If you've been watching any sort of television over the course of the holidays, you more than likely would have seen some new TV spots for the upcoming monster flick CLOVERFIELD. I know I've caught two or three during the final week of the NFL season. Well, I'll just put them below where you can watch them all if you want to..

The film stars Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, Odette Yustman, Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas and T.J. Miller. Drew Goddard penned the screenplay for this Abrams-produced film while Matt Reeves was behind the camera as director. As I said last week, the new teaser trailer of STAR TREK will also be attached to this film.

Plot Summary: Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.

CLOVERFIELD will hit theaters January 18, 2008.

This movie is either going to be really frickin awesome, or completely suck. Man I hope it's awesome.

It's basically the same trailers. We don't see the monster....guess I'll have to see the movie.

Keeping everyone guessing about the monster and/or monsters has been the bait all along. So, no way they show the monster on commercials at least for the first couple of weeks of release. With all the hype that has preceded this film my expectations are actually pretty low, which isn't a bad thing since it'll make them easier to be reached.

I admit that I have not been to a movie in a theater in quite a while... this one may lure me back! Sure, I am certain the monster will be a giant whatever, but the perspective it is being told from is as intriguing as "Blair Witch" was when it first came out (before it became a cliche).

I agree. It is totallly Blair Witch Godzilla. I hope that the movie rules and that it is a HUGE hit. Maybe TOHO will bring "The Big G" out of retirement a couple of years early. At the very least, maybe that IMAX Godzilla 3D will get a jump start.

I like the premise of the movie and Jessica Lucas is hot but if this movie is a large percentage of shaky camera footage - you can count me out.

Merin, please tell me what is wrong with Slusho.
My uncle happens to work for a company in Japan, Taguarato Corp, I think it is. He sent us a package of Slusho mix and a message that said to freeze it ASAP, so we did. We were gonna try it maybe on New Years.
What is it, anyway? We haven't heard from my uncle since, and we haven't been able to reach him.

When I saw the trailer in the theaters I almost got sick because of the shaky cam point of view. If the whole movie's like that, I'll pass. I doubt I'll see this opening weekend so I can read some thoughts on the film from others on this site. If the whole movie isn't shaky cam I'll probably go see it.

It's not SLUSHO... It's Mr. Sparkle, the harsh nemesis of dirt.
