Tom Cavanagh (ED) has been cast as a genius physicist on the Arrow spin off called The Flash. The Hollywood Reporter broke the  news that Cavanagh will join Grant Gustin (who will play the Flash) in the series pilot.

The Hollywood Reporter had this to say about Cavanagh’s character: “Cavanagh has been cast in the main role of Harrison Wells, described as a rock star in the world of physics. The mind and money behind Central City's S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator, he becomes a pariah after the lab's explosion, but charts his path to redemption when he discovers that his failed experiment had the unintended consequence of creating the world's fastest man”.

Along side Gustin and Cavanagh The Flash will feature Jessie L. Martin (as Detective West), Candice Patton (as Iris, The Flash’s love interest), Danielle Panabaker (as Caitlin Snow), and Rick Cosnett (as Detective Eddie Thawne). The only main role still open is Hartley Rathaway aka The Pied Piper.

Well, Shave my Poodle!

I really liked Ed.  Glad Tom is still finding work.  (Julie Bowen hasn't done too bad, either).  :)

I would like to see John Wesley Shipp playing Jay Garrick (an actor who used to play the flash in fictional TV series within the tv series continuity)

maybe they could get Alexis Denisoff to reprise his JLU role as Mirror Master, too...

I wonder if Barry and Thawn are going to both be in a coma when the series starts...

Do we have a premiere date for the pilot yet?  Is this a Fall 2014 series or are we waiting til 2015 or beyond?

Fall 2014 Cap

They also just added John Wesley Shipp. Can it be that WB is listening to the fans? either way it's very cool news

Heard about John Wesley Shipp. That's cool. I liked the old Flash show and liked him in that.

Great nod to the old fans. This is like if Adam West would have appeared in Burton's Batman.

I think it would be cool if they could somehow bring on Shipp as Jay Garrick.  Here's hoping that this show is as good as Arrow.

I was thinking Shipp could either be Garrick or Reverse Flash from an alternate dimension.

I'm beginning to think that the people doing these castings is reading these posts.  They just casted Shipp in the Flash Pilot as a "Mysterious Character" and will have a recurring role if the show gets picked up!

I'm getting pumped for this show.  Now if only DC could figure out how to do thier movies.

Eldogg42 2/12/2014 6:45:13 AM

I'm beginning to think it will be Garrick, as a father figure role.
