“He is just a man, with a man’s power, who can never fail...” but can Flash Gordon rise again on the big screen? Fox is betting on it as they have now acquired the rights form the Hearst Corporation for the character. The Hollywood Reporter broke the exclusive news:
“Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal to pick up the screen rights to the pulp comic-strip hero in a package that has John Davis producing andJ.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the up-and-coming scribes who just worked on Star Trek 3, on board to write the script”.
John Davis’ previous credits include Chronicle, the upcoming Man from U.N.C.L.E, and the original Predator. Davis has also hired the Bourne Ultimatum’s writer, George Nolfi, to penn the most recent draft.
Can the classic hero, created back in 1934 by Alex Raymond, rise again? Can he escape the awesomely bad Sam Jones’ Flash Gordon of the early eighties?
