Variety reports that the U.K. SCI FI Channel has picked up the new 'Flash Gordon' TV series.
Web has bought exclusive U.K. and Benelux rights from distributor RHI to the remake of the 22-part cult show, starring Eric Johnson as the eponymous hero.
Deal was brokered by web's acquisitions topper Monica Iglesias and RHI Entertainment's president, production and distribution Joel Denton.
"Flash Gordon" will be a tentpole of Sci Fi's early 2008 sked, when it hopes it will repeat the success of NBC's "Heroes," which has achieved record viewing figures for the niche channel in Blighty.
