That's probably the way to go, spiderhero. It will likely read better that way.

Barry Allen has become the new Black Flash (sort of a Grim Reaper for speedsters) and the JSA and JLA have combined forces in an attempt to separate him from the Speed Force. He won’t be the fastest man alive anymore, but at least he’ll be alive. Kid Flash shows up, sensing some massive disturbances in the Speed Force and just as the tension mounts, Barry makes a big-time executive decision.
Any time you’ve got the Flash racing Superman on the cover, I’m excited. The characterizations in this issue were, as usual, excellent. I’m loving the fact that Barry hasn’t returned as a gee-whiz, happy-go-lucky crimefighter but is really doing some soul-searching and questioning his place in the current DCU. Barry and Hal don’t get a lot of time to interact in this issue, but just the simple fact that he’s the guy Barry turns to in the heat of the moment says a lot about their friendship. The conversation between Flash and Superman is also a good one and shows that Johns really has a handle on all of these characters.
I go back and forth on Ethan Van Sciver’s art and this issue didn’t do a whole lot to sway me in his favor. When characters are standing still or posing heroically, I could spend hours drooling over his work. When they are in motion, I lose all interest. That’s not a good thing when you’re dealing with a character that’s in constant motion.
The main problem I had with this issue was that it kinda felt like nothing really happened and like it could’ve been done in about ½ the amount of space. Knowing that the series has been stretched to six issues rather than five as originally announced leaves a bad taste in my mouth as though Dan DiDio called up Johns and Van Sciver and said “We gotta have six issues for a trade, guys. Can you pad the story a bit?”
After the sheer awesomeness of the last issue, I was really expecting this one to blow my doors down and it didn’t. It kind of… forgive me for using a bad cliché, but this issue kind of felt like it was running in circles. Like they took a 10 or 15 page story and stretched it to 22 with a lot of unnecessary flashbacks that we’ve been seeing since the first issue. So that was a bummer.
That being said, I did enjoy it. It wasn’t a poorly told story, it was more that the buildup from the last issue had me geeked to the gills and this one sort of nipped that excitement in the bud. However, the last panel has once again got me chomping at the bit waiting for the next issue and it looks as though the mysteries of the series are set to unfold and business is about to pick up. I kind of feel bad giving it a C+, because overall Flash Rebirth has been a great read, but I’m reviewing this issue on its own merits and it was a letdown.

I'm liking this series, haven't read this one yet, but I gotta agree with you on Van Scivers art. It's so strong in one panel, and then BAM! it kinda falls apart...weird. Just a little stiff for the flash.
OK!!!??? I just looked atthe cover art.....AND REALLY?????REALLY????? Did they REALLY put a blurb from AICN on the cover? REALLY???!!! is that necessarry, that doesn't influence me to pick this issue up a bit. If anything it puts me off...
I wanna know what the rest of you think.
What the---?! Yeah, same here, gauley... cover blurb not needed, thank you. I was going in to pick stuff up today and this was one of those "not-on-my-pull-list-but-i'll still-pick-it-up" titles, but between the review and the "HEY! WE"RE AWESOME!!! CHECK OUT WHAT THESE GUYS SAID AND BUY US!!!" on the cover, i may wait for the trade...
Wow, I didn't even notice that blurb from AICN before you mentioned it, Gauleyboy.
I must admit, I usually wait for the trades so I didn't really take the time to examine the cover and just picked it off the shelf.
But you're right. It's a bit akward putting a blurb on a issue. A trade, yes, but an issue???
The perspective on the cover looks god aweful. Flash's perspective looks like he came from a point under the floor and tip toed to the start of a run. As for Superman, he looks like he isnt really even putting any effort into the run. Hes like yeah I see ya, I can keep up with ya no prob! Im so fast I dont need to even arch my back to make a run of it, lol. Terrible cover!
Waiting for the trade...
