THE FLASH returns to TV
New series in development at The WB By Patrick Sauriol
September 12, 2003
Source: Variety
After appearing once already on CBS, DC Comics' super-speedster
THE FLASH is returning to network television. The WB has ordered a pilot to be made, for possible inclusion in the 2004-05 schedule of shows.
Todd Komarnicki, producer on
ELF, will write the pilot and executive produce the series if it happens. Komarnicki's take on the show sounds like equal mixes of
SMALLVILLE and material from the
FLASH comic book series: he'll be young, inexperienced, learning what his superhero legacy is and he won't be seen wearing the comic's classic crimson suit.
Like the comic version, the new TV Flash will be able to use his super-speed to travel through time. As well, he'll also find out he's the latest Flash in a long lineage of quick runners. The TV Flash will have a mentor to guide him through his adventures. Unlike the comics character, this Flash will originally be from Gotham City and not Central City.
It's still too early in the project's development to have any cast decisions made yet.
