Seeking a calm career, Kenta finds himself working his way through the women of a household.

What They Say
Art school student Kentaro looks for inspiration wherever he can find it. When a successful painter takes him under his wing, his creativity is aroused the moment he meets the painter's wife. Seduced by her beauty and exotic dancing skills, Kentaro's art comes second to learning the horizontal tango. Soon he's dancing the sheets with any girl within reach.

The Review!

The bilingual release for this show is pretty standard hentai fare with a pair of stereo tracks encoded at 192kbps. The show has very little to it outside of some incidental music and a few ambient sound effects as it's focused on either dialogue or grunting and screaming. It's rather straightforward in that regard but it comes across well with a center channel orientation. There's little to actually exercise the speakers here but if you're wanting to hear what the show wants to say, you'll have no worries at all. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no trouble with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.
Originally released in 2009, the transfer for this two episode OVA series is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. This short series has a very good look to it with some rather good character designs so the animation has a very bright and colorful feeling to it. There's no real issues to be had here outside of some mild background noise here and there but that's never really distracting. The colors are very solid and vibrant, especially in the character animation, and there's no trace of cross coloration and only a few instances of line noise to be had. The end result is a pleasing show that while not spectacular, serves the material very well.
Fleshdance definitely avoids giving the impression of a rail thin group of models being involved in the show as we have a pair of very curvy and attractive women here against a black background accented by some purple lights shining from behind them. There's little in the way of clothes here but what little there is gives it the added bit of tease alongside the amusingly 80's themed metallic logo. The back cover adds another character shot here in the same kind of style except she's covered in shadows which adds to the overall allure. The heavy use of black here for the background draws the eyes easily to the shots from the show and makes for an easy read of the minimal but effective summary. The rest of the cover is rounded out with the production information and the technical grid which covers everything well. No show related inserts are included nor is there a reversible cover.
The menu uses the same artwork as from the cover, shrunk a little and kept to the left, with a solid black background to it. With a bit of music playing along to it, it's all standard stuff that is quick and easy to use. There's little on the disc outside of the show itself but they do include a series of trailers. Unlike most releases though, there isn't a trailers submenu but rather it just plays about ten minutes worth of trailers. I dislike not having the option to see which ones I want to select and view so none of the trailers got watched. The language submenu is very busy with a lot of options but the show defaults to English language with sign/song subtitles.
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
New hentai material has been pretty thin lately and Fleshdance has been a long delayed title that has finally arrived. This two part OVA series does deliver the good pretty well though as it introduces us to Kenta. Kenta's a young man who has had a hard life as his parents, who had dangerous but undisclosed jobs, died awhile ago. Because of this, he's doing his best to lead a very simple and calm life now, though that's not as easy as he would hope. In an effort to live this way, he's taking a painting apprenticeship job with a man who lives out in the countryside. His arrival there doesn't go quite as planned though.
The master is actually traveling, as he apparently does quite regularly, so he's just going to crash there until he returns. Kenta's arrival has him meeting Aoi, a rather beautiful woman who is the masters wife that does dance instruction, not that we ever see her doing anything of that nature. Aoi's a rather free spirit but Kenta gets a lot of grief for even looking at her from Miku, a purple haired beauty who does a lot of the chores around the place. Kenta makes out much better when he meets Momoko though, a busty and attractive brunette who looks to be the maid of the residence. Though she's scared of Kenta at first, eventually things progress a bit further when he comes across her in the outdoor bath. But even that only goes so far as she runs off and Aoi returns to pleasure Kenta. But again, only so far.
Fleshdance deals with a series of mixed results like this for a bit as there's a concerted effort to keep Kenta from Aoi, but Aoi ends up finding her way to Kenta and toying with him. In order to keep the two apart, both Momoko and Miku end up going further and further with Kenta in an effort to distract him or achieve their own pleasure. Miku really does her best to take one for the team by seducing Kenta against his will. He's holding out more and more for Aoi as he's really taken by her, but the other two are doing their best to both pleasure themselves and him. And Aoi continually makes her inroads as well with a wink and a smile.
The show has very little in the way of plot, but that's not as bad of a problem as you might think. It's paper thin in general, but with it focusing on a generally nice guy like Kenta who wants a calm life and then having to deal with just three women, it works rather well. The situations are obviously far fetched enough in general but there's a lot of fun to them at times, especially as it really teases Kenta on several occasions and he's definitely interested in one more than the others. But they all invariably become interested in him so it turns into a regular fest of fun in different locations until they realize the feelings involved. At least a little since it's more about the fun than anything else for the majority of it.
The character designs for the show and the animation are decent overall. The character designs are good but they run with the expected angle of giving them rather large breasts. If not for this aspect, the characters would have been a whole lot more fun. Even if they kept it to just one woman with this kind of endowment it wouldn't be bad, but all three just takes it a bit too far. They are appealing beyond that since they're done as a bit more mature than the usual type. The animation itself is good though it doesn't go very detailed or overly fluid as it has a light digital feeling to it. The actual payoff scenes are good but they're not very strong, more along the lines of average but with a sense of fun about it.
In Summary:
Though Fleshdance isn't a show that will get you putting it back into the player repeatedly, it is one that's fun to watch and doesn't go into anything really over the top. With good character designs, enjoyable animation and a number of fun scenes to it, it delivers straightforward hentai in a way that leaves you smiling and enjoying how it all comes together, though wishing it had one more episode to show how life is after all the drama is done and over with. Keeping it focused on one guy with three different women, none of whom are creepy or really disturbed in any way, you get good clean fun with a fair amount of teasing and a decent amount of payoff. While Fleshdance may not have been worth the lengthy wait for those that have had it on order forever, it's definitely the kind of show that's good to check out if you're more recent to hentai and want to explore some of its various options.
