Mania Review: Green Lantern (Article) - 6/18/2011 3:14:47 PM

MovieGuy:  I think you underestimate your power. For some time now I have done nothing that I haven't asked myself first, "What would MovieGuy do?" I have now dedicated my entertainment solely around your decisions. The 60 people that post before have no idea what they are talking about...Its you are ...The One!

All joking aside, Its your friends who are tools, Jasinner. Perhaps it is they who should leave Mania and not return, considering their easily influenced, playdoh-like minds. MovieGuy's post was clearly marked "spoilers" and if anyone saw the length of it before reading, they would have to know that it contained a lot of info. I thnk maybe you are angry at your friends, but don't want to show them, so you lash out at someone you don't know and try to pass the blame. Jasinner...quit being a dong and get your head together man.

Mania Review: Green Lantern (Article) - 6/17/2011 11:36:22 PM

I just got back from watching GL. First let me say that I know absolutely nothing about GL outside of what I have just seen. I hav enever read even one comic regarding the character. That said, I give the movie a C . I enjoyed the character a great deal, and the mythology of the Lanterns was great. But the movie suffered from some tremendous slow-downs. This seemed like the kind of movie that once it got going it never really should have stopped. So the pace of the movie was a constant stop and go. The character development odd as well. I assume that Hal's childhood was portrayed properly? But his issues with the flashbacks of his father's death were a bit silly. I know they were meant to show why he was, who he was...but it was corny nonetheless. And as mentioned by Rob and other posters, the scenes with Blake Lively brought the film to a near stand still. the climax was ok...not awesome by any means, but acceptable. I didn't hate Parallax as many of you did, but it did remind me of the enemy from FF movie Galactus, but done better. I think this film will end up right in the middle for movie goers, so its difficult to say if we'll see a sequel for this one. So far this summer, I'm 1-3 on movies I've wanted to see. Thor being the best of the bunch, X-Men and GL being ok, and Super 8 being boring. I just hope that the other 4 movies I am looking forward to seeing are good.

SUPER 8 Wins Debut Weekend (Article) - 6/17/2011 2:17:34 PM

The movies I have been waiting for this summer were Thor, XMFC, Super 8, GL, Cap, HP, Cowboys & Aliens, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. With the first 4 on my list having been released, I have seen all but GL. Thor was great, yet another win for Marvel. When I first watched XMFC I really really liked it. But then I started thinking about it and my enjoyment started declining. Now it stands a a so-so movie for good as the other X movies (except for X2 which was great). I thought Super 8 was really boring over all. I didn't find it the least bit suspenseful. I enjoyed the acting quite a bit, but the story sucked. I havent seen GL yet, but I'm not inspired by the reviews so far. So for the movies I wanted to see this summer, I'm 1-3 on winners-losers. Hopefully the last 4 movies on my list will give the edge.

Red Band CONAN Trailer (Article) - 6/17/2011 1:36:52 PM

I will admit that this is the best trailer yet, but it still isn't enough for me. I will have to see a ton of positive reviews when it is released before I even consider spending any money on it

Mania Review: Green Lantern (Article) - 6/17/2011 10:34:35 AM

Like a lot of people here, I am more Marvel than DC. But that doesn't matter to me over all...I want a good movie. I'll catch Green Lantern and give it a chance, but from what I'm reading, I don't expect much. As movies go, DC doesn't have a good track record at all. Nolan's Batman movies are incredible imo and I can not wait for the next one and hate that it will be his last. Superman has never been one of my favorite superheroes, but I enjoyed the first 2 Christopher Reeve movies, and, believe it or not...I did like Superman Returns. I really want to see Man of Steel, I think it will bring new life to Superman and reinvgorate a JLA movie. I personally am not at all excited about a JLA movie, considering the way it has been approached. Marvel was brilliant in how they have moved towards The Avengers. Building movies for each character that have all been very good, and then bringing them together in one movie. But we see that on the DC side, they want to make Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern...but not tie those movies into a JLA movie is just crazy, and bad business. So to all the haters of all the "haters", I have to say that, though some movies based on Marvel characters have been bad, at least Marvel studios have set the bar for how comics should be brought to the big screen and please their fans.

HOT WHEELS Moving Forward (Article) - 6/16/2011 11:00:01 PM

Mangold Tops WOLVERINE Shortlist (Article) - 6/16/2011 12:12:47 PM

I don't think Aranofsky left because of the incident in Japan. I think it was because of those meddling suits at Fox, just like Raimi at Sony. That is why we will never have a truly bad ass Wolverine, X-Men, or Spiderman movie. Not to say I haven't enjoyed some the movies made, especially the first 2 Spiderman movies by Raimi, but we all know if Marvel was making these films they would blow us away. With that said, I think Mangold has shown that he can direct just about any kind of movie so I think this can be a well directed film. But I can't put confidence in the story as of yet. We may get a well directed piece of crap.

Second CONAN TV Spot Strikes (Article) - 6/15/2011 12:21:30 PM

Still looks like crap to me. I get the feeling we'll see a fairly articulate barbarian this time around, which turns me off as well.  To me, lines like "I don't want your kingdom....I want your head."  are just way too gimmicky for Conan, and I bet this movie is full of them. I try to find something remotely interesting in each of the trailers or tv spots they show, but not one thing looks good to me. I really, really hope I am wrong. It would be nice to see this turn out good, but I think it will be one of the worst movies of the summer. So I ask...Krom, bring us a good Conan movie. One with buckets of blood. One with an interesting story. One that doesn't look like a Syfy original. And if you do not listen...then to Hell with you!

Summer TV Preview (Article) - 6/14/2011 2:23:07 AM

I will check out Falling Skies and Wilfred without a doubt. I don't care about Alphas at all and I really just don't care for Warehouse 13. I still get a laugh out of Futurama, but I dont follow it closely anymore. The plot for Outcasts doesnt exactly blow my skirt up, either. As for the rest, I could take them or leave them.

McCallum Talks Star Wars TV Series (Article) - 6/14/2011 2:10:31 AM

I'll take anything I can get from the Star Wars universe. And I honestly want to see something that has nothing to do with ANY of the characters we already know. The SW universe is huge and has so much to offer. I understand the desire to have outstanding effects, but I think ultimately it would be unnecessary. Just make it a great story with great acting and put it on tv. The thing that really bothers me is that there could be a chance it would show up on one of the major networks. That would be a disaster. Hold out for HBO, AMC, or some other network that will do something good with it.
