Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters - International Trailer

An Extensive Trailer

Here is the international trailer for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. I have never seen the first one, but the special effects look only a tad better than that of Twilight. Numerous Maniacs have said that the original was fun and light hearted. Are you ready to join this franchise? It still looks like a step down from Harry Potter to me. I think I need another trailer yet to convince me.

The Plot: The story takes Jackson to the mythical land known as Sea of Monsters to retrieve a golden fleece that is essential to saving an ailing magical tree that protects his home, Camp Half-Blood. He departs with his Olympian sidekicks Annabeth Chase, daughter of the goddess Athena, and Jackson's protective goat-like satyr Grover.
The film features Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Douglas Smith, Mary Birdsong, Yvette Nicole Brown, Missi Pyle, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Head, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Leven Rambin, Stanley Tucci, Robert Maillet, and Zoe Aggeliki.
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters arrives August 7th, 2013.

I was never interested in seeing the first one, but recently caught it on TV with the kids.

A very pleasant surprise indeed.

Another example of Hollywood's propensity  of turning interesting books for adolescents into bad movies.

The first movie gave me the impression of a Harry Potter knockoff. I haven't read the books so I can't comment on the source but the first felt like they were inserting the characters in a Generic Fantasy Tween Plot. Generic teen with powers, minority girl chasing sidekick for comic relief, cute girl for hero to flirt with, and CG monsters. It could've been executed with its own unique flavor but it felt cookie cutter assembled IMHO. I'll see the sequel on cable.

My kids love the first one, and my eldest daughter enjoys the books (which are, admittedly, Greek mythology-based fantasy books in the vein of Harry Potter - not nearly as well written or composed, but enjoyable nonetheless).

The only surprize for me, mellowdoux, was that you were'nt wallowing in a "Pub" somewhere and was actually Sober enough to be able to watch anything, you Silly Rabbit.......

First one was alright for what it was.  Interested in seeing this when it drops.

Monkeyfoot, it probably seemed like a Harry Potter knockoff because that is exactly what it is.  That was the exact impression I got when I listened to the audiobook.  It isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just follows the same formula.  HP was better written, but I enjoy the Greek Mythology aspect more than witches and wizards.

DarthofhteDead has really been all over mellowdoux lately, hasn't he?
