Ford Locked For Han & Indy?

Rumor Control!

Will Ford Return to both Han and Indy?

We have a rumor that is both good and bad coming out of the UK. The good news, on this rumor, is that Harrison Ford has reached a verbal agreement with Disney for Episode VII (and beyond). Again, just a rumor. Check out the details below posted by Jedi News. The bad news is that Ford is still waiting on a deal for Indiana Jones 5. Though I would be all for another adventure with Indy, it looks as if it wouldn’t be out until 2016. I can buy an old Han Solo, but an old Indy? Perhaps it is better to let Dr. Jones ride into the sunset. Check out the rumored news on Ford’s contract from Jedi News below:

Han Solo, Harrison Ford, is back and onboard for Episode Seven, but that's not all. As part of the deal, steps have been made which raise the possibility of Ford donning the famed Fedora hat of Indiana Jones once more.

A verbal agreement with Ford to play Han Solo once more has been in principle place since before the Disney deal. Over the course of this summer financial settlements were reached. The outstanding points that had dragged on but are now resolved are:

  • Ford wanted to see the synopsis for his character's development over more than just Episode 7. He saw this in August and is happy with the story arc.
  • Ford wanted a commitment to Indy 5. He did not get this as there is no plot line or script in place. What did happen was an agreement was made wherein an outline would be developed by the end of calendar year 2014, and if all parties can agree to it moving forward, efforts would be made to move on Indy 5 for release before the end of 2016.
  • Disney wanted a multi film deal with Ford which transcends Episode 7. This has now been agreed.

It ain't the years, it's the mileage!

Such a stigma still exists with age, well what if we know how to better care for ourselves nowadays and some of us take a really keen interest in our health and increasing our longevity and vitality.  I believe Ford to be such a type and he doesn't look to be too old for anything!  If people want to make these films, they'll do so without our consent, I'll certainly watch it!   Sure, half the folks will complain about his age and the ridiculousness of further adventures of the world's oldest archaeologist, the other half will talk about how his age isn't such a factor and how it's awesome to see him still going strong........both halves will likely be sitting side by side in the theatre.......

I don't care of his age, just the fact we get to see Han again is well worth it. Especially for years, he always put down this franchise and Han was too one dimensional for him.

It's a lot easier to use an "old" guy in the SW universe, especially when they are not the central character. (see Christopher Lee, Ian McDiarmid, Alec Guiness). Being Indy is differeny. Stunt and action are required for the character.

I'm sure Ford got a nice taste of being a General in Ender's Game therefore will relish the General Solo role.

I don't like seeing old people getting beat up on screen.

millean 10/28/2013 9:52:57 AM

Me neither.  Just like baseball, it's much better to watch old people getting beat up in person.

I liked seeing Ford as old Indy in the 4th film but seeing him have those one on one fights were lame.

@ hanso, you should watch Johnny Knoxville's latest movie. ;-)

hanso 10/28/2013 10:11:21 AM

 @ Millean, LOL.

I'm all for Ford in more Star Wars films.  Can't say as I am nearly as excited about more Indy, though.  I don't really know why, but I suppose it has a bit to do with the last time we saw Indy on the screen.

I'd still go see whatever movie he is in, though.

I'll watch Ford as Han & Indy until he doesn't want to do it anymore.

The man's a legend.

Great on Han! On Indy I'd much prefer either an animated series or  movie with Ford doing the voice. You could get 10 times more spectacular with animation and the fun of a youthful Indy again.
