Just three months after producers confirmed development was under way for an Indiana Jones 5 adventure, Harrison Ford has confirmed the process as well to the French magazine, Le Figaro.

Ford also confirmed previous reports that they have a story in mind concerning his iconic character in which he, producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg have all agreed upon. While the actor says he's up for it, a finished script needs to be fleshed out (and agreed upon) before all parties make it official.

"Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work," Harrison said. "If the script is good, I'll be very happy to put the costume on again."

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull whipped its way into theaters on May 22, 2008 with an opening weekend tally of $100.1 million. It would go on to gross $786.6 million worldwide, the second-best 2008 worldwide cume behind The Dark Knight.

Ford said all of this years ago after Indy 3 and it took 16 or 17 years to get Indy 4 onto the big screen. The last adventure certainly wasn't the best and the whole "nuking the fridge" was just too silly (even for an Indy movie), but I'd go see another outing. What worries me is George Lucas having anything to do with writing the script. He should stay an "idea man" only because let's face it, the Star Wars prequels were victim of some awful writing.

For those who say Indy's too old, Ford did a lot of his own stuntwork for the movie and he's eligible for Social Security benefits.

Ford is awesome.

George is a great "idea" man and producer.

This could work... I'd lose the aliens.

Just curious if this will be Indiana Jones meets Abbott and Costello?  Or how about Godzilla?  I mean now that we've done Aliens I think its safe to say no matter what the story is its going to be in the tradition of Crystal Skull and not Raiders.

I just hope they stay away from the ufo/alien stuff. Get back to the supernatural/ occult. I think that worked best the first 3 times around. Hell, I'd even take a chupacabra, werewolf or sasquatch encounter. Better than the alien thing IMO

I wasn't a huge fan of the 4th mostly cause of the sci/fi aspect but it really isn't anymore sillier than some of the shit that went down in the first 3.

Bad Idea all the way around.  Am I the only one that has noticed that since Saving Private Ryan, it is almost as if Speilberg doesn't even try anymore.  Crystal Skull was awful in the directing department.

TKay42one 9/15/2009 2:02:16 AM

stpeteharry, how can you call Speilberg a bad director with such brilliant ideas of repeated nutshots and swinging through trees with monkeys?!  BRILLIANT I SAY...and I'm so glad that Speilberg was able to finally work aliens into another of his movies, since he's got such a hard on for them.

Okay, enough of the bullshit sarcasm...STAY THE F*** AWAY FROM F***ING ALIENS!!!  I don't play a lot of video games or read the Indiana Jones comics out there, but have they ever done a story where Indy looks for the golden fleece?  I think that could be cool.

I didn't even have a problem with the ufo/alien stuff. What was up with Shia Labeouf swinging on the vines with the monkeys? The whole jungle scene would of been so much better had they filmed it in an actual jungle instead of inside George Lucas's computer. All I can hold out hope for is a Rocky 4 scenario where they know they F'd up so they want a do over, just leave the cgi gofers out this time.

God help us.......

ponyboy76 9/15/2009 3:32:57 AM

Yeah, see I didn`t have any problem with the alien plotline because it was in the 50's and aliens were a huge deal then because of Roswell and the Nuclear age. Adding the Russians also made sense. Waht annoyed the hell out of me was the unnecessary F/X like the stupid monkeys and gophers. There was absolutely no need for them to be in the movie. I have a feeling that was all Lucas and had nothing to do with Spielberg.
I would be up for another one, because Ford, despite being up there in age, still kicks ass. I mean look at Clint Eastwood, he's even older and still kicking ass. I just hope they do it quickly. Ford doesn't have another 17 years.
