Scoop Feedback:
September 10, 2001... Revolution Studios has snagged a science fiction spec script called THE FORGOTTEN. The script, which was written by Gerald Di Pego (ANGEL EYES), tells the contemporary story of a man and woman seeking the answers behind the unsolve abductions of their children.
While talking to Variety, Revolution big shot Joe Roth gushed over the project, saying, "I feel it's the most promising script we've purchased since THE SIXTH SENSE. It's an active thriller, but also a very emotional piece. The idea and execution were just terrific."
Though the film has been placed on the fast track, there, as yet, is no scheduled start date.
March 5, 2003... Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore has closed a deal to star in THE FORGOTTEN, described as a supernatural thriller. Moore will play Telly Paretta, a mother who loses her eight-year-old son and then is told by a psychiatrist that she never had him in the first place. As Telly begins to wonder if her memories of the past eight years are nothing but the product of a delusional mind, she encounters another patient of the psychiatrist who also has a similar phantom story to share. Was her son real, imaginary or something else?
The project is set up at Revolution Studios, with Columbia Pictures set to distribute it sometime in 2004. Filming is slated to commence this fall after Moore completes her work in LAWS OF ATTRACTION, scheduled to wrap this summer. [Source: Variety.]
June 24, 2003... Actor Dominic West is in talks to star in the thriller THE FORGOTTEN. If he signs on West will play a psychiatric patient named Ash Cornell who befriends a woman named Telly (Julianne Moore) who believes she had a son even though there is no proof of the child's existence. Cornell also shares a similar bizarre and troubling belief. Together the two adults attempt to find out why they have these memories yet no one else remembers their children.
The movie is set up at Revolution Studios and will be directed by Joseph Ruben (SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY, DREAMSCAPE). [Source: The Hollywood Reporter.]
October 14, 2003... Variety has filled out the remaining cast members starring in the psychological thriller THE FORGOTTEN starring Julianne Moore. Joining Moore and the previously announced Dominic West are Anthony Edwards (E.R.), Linus Roache (THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK), Alfre Woodard (THE CORE) and Gary Sinise (THE HUMAN STAIN).
Set to begin filming in New York City later this month and to be directed by Joseph Ruben (SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY), THE FORGOTTEN is about a woman (Moore) who has complete memories of having an eight-year-old son even though her psychiatrist (Sinise) insists that she's never been a mother.
