Huh? No action experience at all. Not sure if I love that or hate it. Either way this should be different. I was hoping they'd bring back the same director. He's two for two in my book at James Bond.

I thought Martin Campbell did a fantastic job on CR... any word on why he wasn't brought back?

I liked Casino Royale. But I think all the Bond movies are good, regardless of who directed them. Martin Campbell's not doing this one because he has some other movies lined up. But I think Marc Forster is a good choice to do the new movie.

As much as i love Martin Campell, I think Marc Forster is an awesome choice, I love his movies.....Stay, IMO, is one amazing movie. Stranger Than Fiction was also a very good movie. Same with Mosters Ball and Finding Neverland. The Bond franchise is known for taking artsy directors and putting them up to making action movies, just like the last few Harry Potter Movies have done. I think it will add a lot to it. Just remember how much hate was going around before Casino Royale came out, so you never know.

Okay, why on earth would you NOT use the same guy who made your last flick so damn good? Maddening.

I thought last I heard Martin Campbell *was* directing... Guess not. Forster is an interesting choice. I thought Stranger than Fiction was excellent. Definitely surprised me at how good it was. It wouldn't be the first time a non-action director made a good action movie. Bryan Singer never directed action before the first two X-movies. There was a little gunplay in Usual Suspects, but not really what I'd call *action*.

I personally would like to see Tarantino or the Wachowskis take on Bond.

I couldn't disagree more, hanso. They would ruin Bond, they are so not in the direction where Bond is now going and where it is now going is so much better than it has been of late.
Interesting choice, Hanso, and even though I think they are good at what they do, I wouldn't want to see them do Bond.

I'm equally surprised by Campbell not coming back and the hiring of Forster. I wasn't too crazy about Stay and Stranger Than Fiction, while a very good film, doesn't strike me as the type of resume that would fit for a James Bond gig. Then again, Michael Apted wasn't known for action much before doing TWINE. I personally would like to see Stuart Baird or Michael Caton-Jones do a Bond film sometime, but I am willing to see what Marc Forster can do on the next film.

We agree to disagree. Tarantino wanted to make Casino Royale before it was announced that was the new Bond film that was going to be made so I guess he maybe did have the direction but he wasn't given the opportunity. I think the producers burned a bridge there since he probably isn't interesting in doing any other Bond film(thats why I said I would like to see his take on it). Anyway the Wachowskis I just threw out there cause they are good at action but now that I think about it I would rather see their take on Superman. I was watching the end of Matrix Revolutions(the Neo vs. Smith fight scene) and all I kept thinking was that fight was better than any action sequence of Superman Returns. If they can make Neo fly and look badass maybe they can do the same for Superman.
