View Full Version : Firefly: How Badly Did Fox Mess Up The Order?

I remember catching 3 episodes of Firefly when it aired originally. I remember seeing, in no particular order, "The Train Job", "Jaynestown" and "Our Mrs. Reynolds".

Does anyone here remember the order the shows were aired in? I have the box set at home and I'm looking to watch them in the same fractured order Fox aired them in to see how it affects my enjoyment of this great series.

Help! :D

I don't know about your cheap Canadian edition, but mine shows the original air dates on the back of each CD case:

The Train Job 9/20
Bushwhacked 9/27
Our Mrs. Reynolds 10/4
Jaynestown 10/18
Out of Gas 10/25
Shindig 11/1
Safe 11/8
Ariel 11/15
War Stories 12/6
Objects in Space 12/13
Serenity, Parts 1 & 2, 12/20
Trash, The Message, and Heart of Gold never aired.

Does that help?

I know Global where I am does that. I don't have fox, but Global plays pretty much the same things. Andromedia, yeah they played like... 6 episodes of season 4. The second one (part 2 of 2, not part 1) and the last one I remember, but none of the others.

The original airing of the episodes was out of order. The train job was aired first because Fox thought the pilot was too slow. So Fox not only aired them out of order but then didn't air the final filmed episodes.

The only was to watch these was on DVD. I think the Sci-fi channel aired them in the correct order.

I've been stuck this last week without my satelite hooked up and without my highspeed net. Well, I knew I had time so I went and bought Serenity the movie. I came home with it ready to watch and my older sis and brother in law snatched it out of my gleaming eyes and said "Have you watched Firefly, the series" yet? I was at a loss.

"No, I had not."

"Go get it, buttmonkey."

"Fine, I will!"

2 hours and 23 minutes later, I had the Firefly box set ready to go. I know this isn't the Firefly Review thread more then it is centered on targeting the clowns at Fox so I won't put my review here just yet and I don't rightly know if I can express the words that I got out of watching the Firefly series. It was one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time....but the review can wait.

Btw, Negs does your box set have those shows in that order on the Cds 1-4? Mine are in a different order and it doesnt have the air date next to the titles on the back of the set. Must have gotten a different set.

My boxed set doesn't have the shows in order of air date, but presumably in the order Joss Whedon preferred, so it begins with "Serenity" parts 1&2 (aired in Dec. 02), then goes on to "The Train Job" (which aired as the pilot) and "Bushwhacked." On the back of each disc case, however, it lists the original air date for each episode on the disc, so I could answer Meat's original question. I don't think there's more than one version of the set, but I got mine for my birthday last year so maybe I'm just special. :)

Haha Negs, you're not special. I was just wrong. I stand corrected after looking at the back of the individual dvd cases where the dates were indeed on them. :)

Wait a minute?

That doesn't mean you're not special!!

What's that paddle for?!?!

OKAY OKAY OKAY! You are! You are! You are!

Btw, I couldn't believe they didn't even air some of those episodes. Trash rocked and it never aired! You think that babe's name was really Yolanda after all?

All I want for christmas is NEW management for Fox Television Productions in the way of a Firefly fan. Do you hear meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......Arghhh.
