Let's try that again...

I tried to leave this comment before but I think the message board ate it.

Anyway.....I just wanted to say that you have a pretty good start going here. I would definately suggest that you take a look at the tutorials in the Art School. (http://www.nextxcomics.com/ArtSchool) They will give you some good advice on how to take you pieces to the next level.
What you have done with this and other recent pieces are nicely done for a beginner but suffer from the same problems most beginner pieces. The recolor work is a bit rough on the edges and the recolored parts themselves are a bit flat. By that I mean they are lacking a bit in highlight and shadow to create depth. Also on the hair while I know Betsy has purple hair the purple color you chose is a bit hypersaturated adding to the unreality of the recolor.

I have appreciated you other pieces and look forward to seeing your progress and images in the future.

I understand I usually have to play with something myself before I get it to work.

I'd suggest playing with the pen tool for selections and using the dodge and burn tools to work on the shading.

If there is anything I can help with feel free to PM me here or email me directly if you would prefer. My email is at the bottom of this post.
