View Full Version : Disgusted!! Ticketmaster
So here I am at Ticketmaster.com, trying to buy 2 tickets for Nine Inch Nails. I choose the shittiest seats that still have seats, for $22.50. As you can see, with all the bs fees, the tickets end up costing $42.15 a piece. The more expensive the ticket, the higher the fees they charge. How is this even allowed to go on? I cancelled the tickets rather than get raped for them. This price \/ is without the ridiculous charges they want for sending your tickets overnight, something like 18 bucks. What do the rest of you do? Do you just suck it up, and take it so you can see a show?
Tickets (Nine Inch Nails)
FULL PRICE TICKET US $22.50 x 2
Total Building Facility Charge(s) US $9.75 x 2
Total Convenience Charge(s) US $7.90 x 2
Order Processing Charge(s) US $4.00
Standard Mail No Charge
TOTAL CHARGES US $84.30

I happen to live near three major venues here in SF (two within walking distance), so I just walk up to the box office and buy tickets. Yup, you still get surcharged, but not as badly as buying them online. Also, you could do willcall and pick up the tickets at the window of the venue. Saves you a few bucks.

I don't even have an opinion on the matter. I'm just pissed you're going to see Nine Inch Nails and I'm not.
Minion: Is very bitter.

Will-Call is your friend. I just got tix for OZZfest 2006 in July for 37.50 each(9 of us going) and i just got back from picking em up at the box office (Went on sale today).
I hate ticketmaster with the passion of a thousand suns. I know of several bands that refuse to deal with them, or if they do, have very minimal dealings. The only time i've dealt with Takemymoneymaster in the last few years was Getting tickets for WWE Smackdown a few months back. I paid nearly as much as you did for the NiN tickets, Kah.
Hope you enjoy the show.

Tell me about it, when they played Glasgow last year the tickets sold out in under 4 minutes.
Metuzalem: Was inconsolable.

Trent is god. I've said it many a time.
Well, Kahlan, my hottie, you could join the Spiral and get pre-release tix and crap. Prolly still ass rape you through TicketBastard, though.
Anway, the best way to avoid the convenience charge shit is to go to a box office (and they're generally cheaper still at the venue's box office) and buy them in person. You still pay those facility charges -- they're charged by the venue, not TBastard (although I expect TB gets their cut of that as well).
Remember when acts like Pearl Jam (and Trent, I think) boycotted TB? That lasted for all of one tour. Hell, if PJ can't beat the Bastard, I don't know that anyone can. *sigh*

I got my U2 tickets for only a few dollars more.
I didn't get the tickets yet. I didn't want to get raped. But our local Piggly Wiggly sells tickets, so maybe I'll check them out while I am buying the cookies I made this morning for the stupid baby shower I have to go to.

Nine Inch Nails put on a decent show live.
and I agree with the ticketing crap, almost all ticket agencies are like that. with loads of "convenient charges" and all that shit.
To solve your problem though you can always just call :)

I just got two tickets for a club show featuring Panic Channel (Jane's Addiction minus Perry Farrell plus a different singer) for $18.00 per plus $9.62 in convenience fees for a grand total of $45.62. This was not through TM, obviously. Ticketweb.com was the source.

RE: getting raped -- if you're in the pit, the odds of someone sticking something somewhere you didn't want them to are pretty good.

What pisses me off most about Ticketcrapster is that when a show is cancelled, they still charge you the "convenience fee." What kind of crap is that?
So I got my Melissa Etheridge tickets through her fan website. Not cheap at all, but she's worth it, and by the time you add all of Tcrapster's fees, it wouldn't have saved much $$$ at all.
That said, I think most ticket services now add surcharges. I ordered tickets for a summer festival from the festival website itself, and they added $4.50 for each ticket. :(

The Spiral is a joke and everyone knows it - except Trent, apparently - he still thinks it's "cool."

This topic is more general, so I dont see why it was moved.
Ticketmaster outlets every type of entertainment event, not just music.
But oh well, just a pointer..
Well, good news and bad news. Good news- the bf is getting me the tickets for my birthday. Bad news- his money is my money, so I'm still getting raped for the charges. I went to the Pig, and it was only 4 dollars less, which is what it costs to buy them over the internet. It turns out that 10 dollars on each ticket is for entrance to Summerfest, since the concert is going on during the festival.
