Hello everyone, I really like movies so I decided to join the forum so I can relate with others who really like them too. Seems like we got a good group of people here so I will see yah in the forums... and yes I am a poker nut, Haha.

Hey pokie, welcome to the forums. I am not a poker nut, in fact I have never played poker in my life.
I am a nut, however. So there's that. :smirks:

I always thought of you more as a penis myself, rather than just a testicle.
Welcome, Pokie. You'll find that we only occasionally talk about movies.

Welcome, Pokie. If you can accept that we're an eccentric, motley, undersexed, immature bunch, you'll fit in fine. :D

Undersexed, yes.
Though I may have a date this week. With an actual female carbon-based humanoid lifeform.
So, you know. That's somethin'.

Word of advice Space, don't refer to her as a female carbon based humanoid lifeform on the date. I think that's anti-sex points.
Hey Poker. So do you like Texas Holdum' or Strip better? Welcome to the boards

Heh. Well, I guess that limits you to the animal kingdom. Hehe..

But not necessarily the terrestrial animal kingdom, apparently. A "carbon-based lifeform" does not refer directly to something found on the Earth. I prefer not to dwell on the potential imagery, though . . . :)

No Space, you should instead refer to her as a "Pleasure Unit". That will certainly score points. Perhaps not enough points to redeem for sex, but points nonetheless...
Oh, sorry...welcome Poker!

To the best of my knowledge... I've only seen her internet photos.
But I am hopeful. :)

So, Spacey, have you had a face-to-face with someone you met over the internet before (I mean in terms of potential flames, not Meathead, even though he can potentially shoot flames out of his ass... he looks like he's aiming it like a cannon in that picture)? Has it been a successful method of meeting people? I'm considering it myself since I'm just not good at the bar/club scene and I work in a company where the only two women my age are married and one just went on maternity leave.
If you've used this method more than just this once I'm curious what your experiences have been. What's a good icebreaker? What's a good way to present yourself?

I have a profile on Lavalife. I go by the handle Faramir2. (I am just asking for trouble giving that info out. ) It actually is not a bad site for dating, in and of itself. You just have to go into it with no great expectations of meeting the perfect woman, just like that--though you never know. Think of it as just another way to meet women, not the only way. And you have to be honest, while at the same time promoting your best features.
My problem has been, I inevitably go for the wrong ones, while ignoring the right ones. But I have good vibes about this new one. We've been chatting for awhile on the net, so we know each other somewhat already. Oh that's another thing. Make sure you have MSN Messenger or Yahoo. It's free and not a bad way to send IM's, photos or even video if you have webcam.
Lavalife seems to have two types of women: high-powered alpha females who are "tired of the bar scene," as they say; and rather shy, lonely introverted women who don't get asked out much. If you're like me, you are often put off by the first variety, and feel sorry for the second. Not a healthy basis for a relationship. Oh, and there are also a lot of single mothers, who have accumulated more than a little cynicism over the years.
In between these extremes are a lot of fine women. I have a feeling you could do quite well, sickness. A lot of the women there are looking for the intellect, as well as physical attraction. Just tell them you're scientist, you work out regularly, you're not a Republican... how can you lose?

Well, Kaeos and Traz are certainly NOT undersexed, and I don't think any term that confers lack of sex can be used to describe Jake.

Kahlan, baby, I could be getting some right now, and I'd still be undersexed.

Well, with the 9-10 kids between them, I'm pretty sure there's gotta be some sex involved.

Heh. If the sex didn't dry up after each kid was born, I'd say you're right. Seriously, from what I've heard from friends and relatives with kids, the fantasy you had as a kid that your parents only did it to conceive you is probably true.

If that was actually true, it wouldn't have been so painful and traumatic to share a wall with my parents all those years.
