Video animation of how we'll get back to the Moon by 2018!

I know, I know, it's just Apollo Redux (which is, I believe, Latin for "Been there, Done that.").
But it's something. There are private companies and organizations who have their own ideas for returning to the Moon and going to the asteroids. They are, imo, more innovative and fresh. I will provide video links for these, shortly.
In the meantime, enjoy!

Apollo Redux or not, I'm still jazzed by the idea that we're going to put a man back on the moon. And, hey, atmospheric exit and re-entry physics haven't changed in the last 32 or 3 years last I checked so it makes perfect sense to go back to the tried and true.

True, but it does represent the safe option.
There's a company called Transformational Space, one of whose members is Burt Rutan, who have some intriguing ideas about reusable orbital space vehicles, including some proposals on returning to the moon.
You can check them out here:

They have an interesting couple of video links here:
This narrated video exhibits t/Space's full concept of operations from take-off to landing. (http://www.transformspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=media_gallery.viewalbum&albumid=A1663F17-06A1-1294-296BE5E624169B1B)

SpaceDev Corporation (www.spacedev.com) has a very ambitious concept for lunar exploration.
There's a well-made video you can download here:

Cool music too.

Interesting thing. The juicing of the manned space program is the only, ONLY thing that I think Bush is doing right. Of course, only he could talk about further exploration of the cosmos, and totally make it sound like he's talking to elementary school students.
Effing dork.

Getting America back into the business of space exploration would indeed be an achievement for this administration.
Especially if they access the newer players in the space game, as exemplified by the X-Prize Foundation's Peter Diamandis:
NASA, X Prize Foundation Shoot For the Moon (http://www.space.com/adastra/adastra_lunarchallenge_060505.html)
LOS ANGELES, California -- A Lunar Lander Analog Challenge is being spearheaded by NASA and the X Prize Foundation—a $2.5 million dollar NASA Centennial Challenge dedicated to enhancing the space agency’s return to the Moon effort.
Details of the challenge were outlined here today by NASA’s Deputy Administrator Shana Dale at the International Space Development Conference. X Prize Chairman, Peter Diamandis presented the rules and officially opened the competition for team registration.
“NASA’s contribution to the Lunar Lander analog challenge is $2 million. This is the most significant investment yet, in terms of prizes that we’re doing under the Centennial Challenges,” Dale told SPACE.com.
