Ok, so wasn't Star Trek X supposed to be the all-out interplanetary war story? What happened? Ever since the massive battle with the Borg at the beginning of First Contact and the battles with the Dominion in DS9, I've been waiting for a Star Trek war movie. It seems like TNG crew is done with films, so where do we go from here? I've included a poll with some ideas, including an "other" choice to include your own!

I think Paramount needs to give Coto the reigns, let him develop something, and see where it goes. I think a new movie is a bad idea. Until something is developed that allows fans to get passionate about Trek again, any enterprise (pardon the pun) will fail.

But perhaps a new movie without ties to any of the series will reboot the franchise, or a new series will pave the way for a new film.

New series will pave the way. I don't see a fresh movie energizing the Trek base when movies try to appeal to the mass market. A series will energize the base because you can specialize to your target audience a lot better on television.

I agree.

However, isn't Coto now doing 24?

Paramount were idiots for not letting Coto have more of a chance.

I voted for war. It wouldn't float Roddenberry's boat, but we have to have a film that will bring in the masses. Not just Trek fans.

I said it many years ago, but I still think it's a good idea....give the show over to new blood behind and in front of the camera. And go for a name. Now, don't jump all over me BUT, I say, get Tom Cruise on board. Get Tarantino to direct! Something on a grand scale. I mean, those are just two names to throw out there. If you prefer, Russell Crowe directed by Spielberg.

I mention those two directors, because they always wanted to do a Bond picture and TPTB should have let them.

However, isn't Coto now doing 24?

Yes, I did see his name in the credits. I was glad to see it.

I'm just worried that if they do a new film with a new crew, people will just view it as some Sci-Fi film set in the Trek universe, and they won't have a familiar crew to reconnect with.

Tom Cruise can kiss my ass in hell.

BTW, since someone mentioned "24", S_T needs to post some pics of Elisha Cuthbert.

Oh come on! You're not going to hell! :winks:

Ms. Cuthbert is due back this season, or so says IMDb. They're sometimes wrong.

I read your blog, bark! Thanks for the defense. But there's a flower in my gun barrel these days. I love the world...:p

A mixed crew movie, TNG and DS9, with the ones who still want to do a cast movie, and not being THE star. :winks:

That would be cool in a war movie, involve everyone!

That would be interesting.

You could also have the Enterprise be only a minor player in the flim and have Picard show up for like 20 minutes of film.

Nobody voted for Voyager. Burn

Someone needs to change the name of that thread. Right now it's called, "Should I? Shouldn't I?" which was quite on day one, but we're into the second week now. I tried changing it to "The Shrine," but to no avail...
