Okay, having just watched it I must say the movie is better than MI:2 but fell flat in the end- I was dissappointed that the final climactic fight scene happened in a slum area rather than in some spectacular location. As far as all three movies I still prefer MI:1 simply because of the climax in the end as well as the twist on Jim Phelps character.

I once again found it hilarious that the real bad guy is once again either an agent or director within the IMF- is this like a running joke in the entire series? If I was the U.S. Governemnt I would disband that damn organization- LOL!

Ok, I have no intentions of seeing this, but if I did, I would feel pretty spoiled by your comments. I think you might want to put a spoiler warning in.

Ok, you got to it the same time I did, but there is a spoiler window. Just use the like this with the writing in white tags.

Um, guys, my spoilers are in white (underneath the "spoiler" notice).

Yes, but if you are using one of the prettily colored style schemes as your default, those white letters are loud and clear against the lovely colors in your background window. So please edit your post to use the

codes. That is what they were designed for, and Monic did a great job with them.

Tom Cruise is nuttier than a pile of squirrel shit. Just sayin', that's all

Omi, that's not really a spoiler.

As for the supposed 'spoiler' that Trek gave away, didn't they already show that was the case in the trailer?

At least that's what I got out of it.

Besides the fact that it's going suck small dogs for quarters like the first two movies did.

Really? I was using the standard layout as far as my scheme and I couldn't see it. http://messageboard.cinescape.com/cinescape/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif

Oh well, I edited it.

If you go to the quick style chooser at the bottom left of the screen, pick something like Superman or Spiderman, then imagine how white letters would look on that. I'm using the Sky & Clouds style, which is really more of an Ocean color palette, but that's the name it has, and white letters show up against the pale teal background. Anyway, thanks for editing. Neglet Jr. is going to force me to take him to see mi3, but I refuse to go opening weekend and give Cruise box office juice. Still, I don't want to know any spoilers, I haven't been paying much attention to the movie.

Ebert has given the flick -two and a half stars.

And I placed spoiler tags to that in case someone out there
would really really feel influenced by Roger Ebert's compelling rating system.

However, it was fun to read, I must admit. :D

I saw MI:3 last night, and I loved every second of it. The film is rather intense, and the pace doesn't let up until the credits roll. It keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire running time. I believe part of that is thanks to the great setpieces, but some of that is definitely owed to the structure of the film. The opening scene grabs you, pulls you in, and doesn't let go. It sets up a sense of dange that is present throughout the film.

This one definitely has plenty of spectacle, including some crazy stunts. I was not disappointed at the end. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how the villain is dispatched. Trust me, unless you are spoiled beforehand, you won't see it coming until it happens. When I saw it, I said, "Holy shit!" loud enough for everyone around me to hear, if not everyone in the theater. :D

MI:3 is a great summer flick. It fires on all cylinders, and it is definitely worth your time.

I've just seen. An being that I was the fan of the original TV Series, I thought Cruise committed the unforgivable sin of killing off Jim Phelps. However, they may be a chance of redemption. First few seconds of the movies okay was pretty good, but my heart stopped when I heard the scoring, and if anyone ever saw the old shows would recognize straight out that the composer utilizes some of the music of the old series. I really don't care for Tom Cruise, but I have to say this; Phillip Seymour Hoffman especially towards the climax, is my favorite person now. It was a solid movie, more of the strong foundations than the other two.

I thought it was pretty damn good fun, but not as good as it could've been (or as I hoped it would be).

As others have already mentioned, it's got a great pace - it's easily the fastest moving of the three films - but the story is incredibly thin, and as well-staged as the action sequences were, there weren't really any moments that had that "wow" factor (excluding the shots that already featured in the trailer).

Plus, I felt Hoffman to be wasted. He's not in it that much, and he makes the choice to - for the most part - play the role in a low-key way. The only time he really came alive was in the opening sequence.

But it was a lot more entertaining overall than the second movie, and any movie that gives Simon Pegg a key role in assisting the hero during the finale has to be worth a look.

Looks as though MI3 will enter the books as a domestic dissapointment. Early reports have MI3's Friday gross around $17 million.

Simon Pegg as in "Shaun of the Dead" Simon Pegg. Damn it. Now I have to see this movie. Thanks Deacon! You suck!

I really should check it out... but paying for a movie will be a drag now...

Is it worth seeing on the Big Screen?

I'll have to pay for the friend though... I'm the only one with money.

Alright, I'll take your advice and go and see it.

A fantastic popcorn-muncher. This movie was vastly entertaining. Despite a few screaming babies in the audience, I managed to stay completely tuned in. Even when you know the heroes are bested, you're desperately pulling for them. These M:I movies are always thin on plot, so that's no surprise. But it was great having the window open on IMF this time. Keri Russell was outstanding as was Maggie Q. And for once "Luthor" didn't bitch about his Italian leather shoes.

This is the sort of badass flick that summer movies are about.

SPOILER:

I thought it was the best Mission:Impossible yet, even though I saw the ending coming from the first five minutes of the movie. Great popcorn summer movie though even though it's getting harder and harder for me to root for Tom Cruise even though i hate the guy he's a good actor, but this insane couch jumping scientology freak isn't the same ole Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt). Still I think it's worth seeing and PSH was outstanding as the villian, he could have had more time in it though...

I'm curious, can someone give a review of this movie without mentioning popcorn? Eating that stuff makes me vomit... strange considering my location of employment... but HEY!

I just posted this on the website under 'Weekend Box Office: Bombs Away?' but I thought I would share it here too...

Here's my thoughts on how it should have ended...

...what would have been great, is if they worked the story so that good IMF personnel came in and shot Crudup's character, thereby saving Hunt's wife... they recover Ethan's dead body making his wife believe that he is dead. IMF of course brings him to life and Ethan let's his wife continue to believe that he is dead for the safety of her future so that he can carry on doing missions for IMF (that would show true love). It's a sadder ending but more realistic in my opinion and making the movie stronger instead of adding on the usual Hollywood happy ending...

...still I liked the movie and as I orginally posted I give this a B+. Hell, maybe even an A- since I wouldn't mind paying to see this again in the theater (albeit, it would be a matinee)

don't get me wrong, i didn't mind the ending they gave us either, it just seems that Hollywood always goes out of its way for a happy ending... give me something meatier Hollywood. i can handle it.

Good Review, the things that were done differently in this movie should have been done in the first installment.

What I like about the film also, was not only the team effort idea, but the idea that ethan hunt didn't hold all of the cards in certain moments. I was bit taken by surprise when PSH kicked crap out of Tom Cruise near the end. However, PSH character's death was laughable IMO. Getting hit by car. A person who just literally body slam Tom Cruise should go out a little bit more grand. After all, I think that confrontation was better than the one in MI2. It was nice to see Ving Rhames not running after Tom Cruise like the last film

Martini97... here are my thoughts to what you said about Hoffman...

i thought it was perfect the way he died. it was original and it came out of nowhere. it was a HOLY SHIT!!! type moment because it was so unexpected. i thought it was great. were you just disappointed because your a Hoffman fan and you wanted expected a better send off?

...because if you did, then it's probably clouding your judgement just a little.

Martini97

No, but 18 wheelers aren't necessarily realistic in that kind of setting isn't it?
